It is too wrapped up to affect us too much in the Houston area yet (except sw parts). Once it weakens, outer banding should increase during the day and core rains at night. It is going to plan other than being a stronger than expected 4.

Wow. Latest model guidance wanna bring harvey on a constant NW track now all the way to Austin and San Antonio and beyond. IMO, i feel its looking less likely he gets back to the gulf and on NE. Barely any show him back in the gulf period. Might be a straight shot to SA/Atx! We shall see!

It's not going to turn now? It's a bust? Really?

its a possiblity. But until the system is out of harms way the forecast could verify. Forecasting any kind of weather is not an exact science. It is a guess.
Pretty awesome lightning and thunder with showers here in Cypress. It has been so quite that when the lighting hit and thunder I jumped..LOL

Hey all,
I've been on the forum for a long time. Since Blake was in high school posting on here. I just wanted to say folks that are calling a bust should relax on those statements for a few days. We were never going to have big impacts yet. Please play safe for the next couple of days because this storm could easily get your guard down and then hit hard.
Now I'll get off my soapbox! I'm in League City close to Dickinson and we've had some pretty good gusts. I'm estimating 30-35 miles per hour. I've also had at least two tornado warnings so far.
Stay safe all!

Jeff said 145 mph overhead. Major structural damage on buildings
120 mph sustained, 145 mph gusts
Here in Pasadena, took my dogs outside real quick to use the restroom before the rain came in, and saw lots of blue power flashes. So looks like some people near my area will be without power.
Anyone else in the Houston area without power or know of anyone without power? Winds have been sustained near 25mph out at times gusting to over 30mph.

What do you guys think about all these tornado warnings?
Broad-based question... Only one verified damage report of a McD's sign down on Galveston at Broadway and Seawall.
Daylight will probably reveal more damage inland, but ...

They seem a little much but I'd rather get them than not know one had the possibility of coming. I've had two.brooksgarner wrote:What do you guys think about all these tornado warnings?

I just hope it doesn't make people non-reactive when a SERIOUS couplet forms and it's a real, big tornado... It's scary night for folks who don't know this stuff is radar-indicated and could be a funnel cloud. It's obviously impossible to say if a twister is going to be bad, but many of these are waterspouts coming ashore... so far.

It's better to warned than not at all. If people don't heed the warnings, they are crazy!brooksgarner wrote:I just hope it doesn't make people non-reactive when a SERIOUS couplet forms and it's a real, big tornado...
