The storms entering the northwest side of Harris county look to be developing back to the south quickly. We could see this line move across much of the metro area over the next hour or so.

Storm is either back-building to the southwest or new storms have developed to the southwest of the main storm.

Strange build up after dark.
What's the trigger? Just instability?

Right now a big trigger is converging outflow boundaries from collapsing storms north and south of Houston. The boundaries converged just NW of Houston and the area is moving SE.
