The front is passing the Austin area at this hour. It looks like we'll see the front passing through SE TX during the early morning hours. We'll focus some attention on the Major East Coast Storm tomorrow since it appears that it may well be some what 'historic' in nature weather wise if the trends continue.

Not sure where the front is, but it is 64 and dropping in Stafford. When I left for work this morning it was still in the 70's. Love it! Finally get to turn the a/c off.

Currently a chilly 53 degrees up here in NW Harris County with gusty NW winds and showers nearby. I may have to fire up the heaters and get a fire going in the fireplace...;)

Fall has finally arrived! :D I actually had to close a few windows in the house. Computer says 62 degrees, sure feels colder than that, I suppose that is the wind factor. Bring on winter!

This weather is splendid. I cannot wait to see if Cypress hits the upper 30s this week. Ugh...let's skip fall and fast forward to winter please, lol.

AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HOUSTON/GALVESTON TX
340 AM CDT SAT OCT 27 2012

.DISCUSSION...
AT 08Z...SURFACE HIGH PRESSURE WAS BUILDING INTO THE CENTRAL
PLAINS. A TIGHT PRESSURE GRADIENT OF 12 MB EXTENDS ACROSS SE TX
AND INTO THE WESTERN GULF. SUSTAINED NORTH WINDS OF 25 TO 30 MPH
WERE REPORTED AT PSX AND GLS WITH GUSTS OVER 40 MPH. THE GRADIENT
IS SHOWING SIGNS OF RELAXING SO WILL PROBABLY CANCEL THE WIND
ADVISORY FOR THE COASTAL COUNTIES WITH THE MORNING PACKAGE
(SUBJECT TO CHANGE). THE NAM12 FCST SOUNDINGS SHOW A MID LEVEL
CLOUD DECK MOVING ACROSS THE REGION THIS MORNING WHILE THE GFS
SOUNDINGS LOOK DRIER. SKIES ARE CLEARING FROM THE NORTHEAST BUT
THERE IS A CLOUD DECK OVER CENTRAL TEXAS TRYING TO MOVE EAST. THE
LEADING EDGE OF THE CLOUDS IS ERODING AS THE CLOUD DECK PUSHES
EAST SO CONFIDENCE IS LOW THAT THESE CLOUDS WILL EVER GET HERE.
WITH SOME HESITATION...WILL LEAN TOWARD THE DRIER GFS AND TREND
SKY COVER TOWARD CLEARING. BASICALLY A TEMPERATURE FCST AFTER
TODAY. COOL OVERNIGHT LOWS AND MILD DAYTIME MAX TEMPS ARE IN
STORE FOR THE REGION THROUGH THURSDAY WITH A LARGE DIURNAL RANGE
IN TEMPERATURES. VERY DRY AIR IN PLACE TONIGHT COUPLED WITH
NEARLY CALM WINDS WILL YIELD VERY COLD TEMPERATURES AND THERE ARE
A FEW SPOTS OVER THE NORTHERN ZONES THAT WILL FLIRT WITH THE
FREEZING MARK BY SUNDAY MORNING.
DRY AIR REMAINS IN PLACE THROUGH
TUESDAY MORNING SO EXPECT VERY CHILLY MORNING TEMPS AGAIN MON AND
TUES MORNING. AS THE HIGH MOVES OFF TO THE EAST ON TUESDAY...
ONSHORE WINDS WILL RETURN AND LOW LEVEL MOISTURE WILL BEGIN TO
MAKE ITS SLOW RETURN TO THE REGION. A STRONG UPPER LEVEL TROUGH
WILL APPROACH THE REGION NEXT SATURDAY AND RAIN CHANCES WILL
RETURN TO THE AREA.

...PATCHY FROST POSSIBLE SUNDAY MORNING ACROSS NORTHERN HALF OF SOUTH
CENTRAL TEXAS....

EARLY SUNDAY MORNING WILL SEE THE COLDEST TEMPERATURES SO FAR
THIS EARLY FALL SEASON. CLEARING SKIES AND LIGHT WINDS WILL ALLOW
TEMPERATURES TO FALL INTO THE MIDDLE AND UPPER 30S ACROSS THE
NORTHERN HALF OF SOUTH CENTRAL TEXAS...INCLUDING THE HILL COUNTRY.
THE AREA THAT WILL SEE THE COLDEST TEMPERATURES SUNDAY MORNING IS
THE AREA MAINLY NORTH OF INTERSTATE 10.

THERE WILL BE SOME LOWER ELEVATIONS AND LOW LYING AREAS THAT WILL
LIKELY SEE THEIR FIRST FROST OF THE FALL SEASON. THERE IS EVEN THE
POSSIBILITY THAT ONE OR TWO LOCATIONS COULD EVEN DIP DOWN TO NEAR
FREEZING...ALTHOUGH THOSE COLDEST READINGS SHOULD BE FAIRLY
ISOLATED AND CONFINED TO RIVER VALLEYS AND AREAS NEAR CREEKS AND
STREAMS. IF YOU HAVE OUTSIDE TENDER VEGETATION THAT IS SUSCEPTIBLE
TO COLD TEMPERATURES...YOU SHOULD CONSIDER MOVING THEM INSIDE IF
YOU LIVE IN THESE LOW LYING AREAS.

THIS COOL WEATHER WILL CONTINUE EVEN INTO MONDAY MORNING WHEN
PATCHY FROST IS STILL POSSIBLE ACROSS MAINLY NORTHERN SECTIONS OF
SOUTH CENTRAL TEXAS.

AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HOUSTON/GALVESTON TX
332 PM CDT SAT OCT 27 2012

.DISCUSSION...
SKIES CLEARING OUT WITH THE RIDGE BUILDING INTO THE AREA.
NORTHERLY WINDS INLAND OF 8-13 KNOTS AND FOR AREAS MAINLY ALONG
AND SOUTH OF I-10 13-16G20-26KT WINDS STILL PREVAILING BUT HAVE
BEEN RELAXING AND SHOULD CONTINUE TO DO SO OVER THE EVENING. SOME
SLIGHT INCREASES IN WINDS ON THE COAST AND OVER THE ISLAND LATE
THIS EVENING AS TEMPERATURES INLAND TUMBLE. ACARS SOUNDINGS GIVING
CONFIDENCE TO THE OVERNIGHT FORECAST AS THEY SHOW ATMOSPHERE
DRYING OUT AS HAVE MODELS. THIS DRY ATMOSPHERE WILL BRING THE
COOLEST TEMPERATURES SO FAR THIS SEASON AND MAY SEE TEMPERATURES
DIP TO 34-36 DEGREES OVER THE NORTHERN AREAS...REPEATING AGAIN
TOMORROW WITH THE LL RIDGE RIGHT OVERHEAD. OTHER THAN SOME PATCHY
LIGHT FROST ON CAR WINDOWS AND TOPS FOR THE AREAS NORTH OF COLLEGE
STATION TO TRINITY WE SHOULD SEE OBSERVED TEMPERATURES REMAIN
ABOVE FREEZING.

THE RIDGE WILL BE OVERHEAD TUESDAY EARLY THEN SLIDE EAST AND
SOUTHERLY FLOW RETURNS AND LEADS TO A WARM UP BUT HAVE BEEN
TRENDING THE DEWPOINTS DOWN BELOW GUIDANCE IN MOST CASES FOR
WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY AS UPPER RIDGE TRAVERSES TEXAS AND OVER
SETX ON FRIDAY NIGHT. THIS SHOULD KEEP SETX RAIN FREE THOUGH
CLOUD COVER WILL BE ON THE INCREASE TUESDAY AND MAY END UP WITH
MUCH MORE CLOUD COVER EARLY WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY THAN IN CURRENT
SET OF GRIDS WITH IMPLICATIONS FOR THE TEMPERATURE FORECAST THOSE
MORNINGS TO BE TO LOW. TROUGH MOVING OUT OF THE 4 CORNERS AREA
WILL LEAD TO AT LEAST SLIGHT CHANCE FOR SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS
OVER THE WEEKEND.

TRICK OR TREAT WEATHER SHOULD BE QUITE PLEASANT FOR SETX WITH
LIGHT WINDS WITH TEMPERATURES FALLING FROM AROUND 72-74 AT 6 PM
TO 62-68 BY 9 PM WITH CLOUDS SCUDDING BY AT TIMES TO HIDE THE
MOON.

E-mail from Jeff:...A great night for all the ghouls and goblins making their rounds for treats locally...

Luckily with the ongoing situation across the NE US, the weather here has been nearly perfect.

No really chance in the ongoing dry cool weather although surface winds have becoming more SE to SSE and this is allowing a slight increase in moisture and cloud cover along with humidity values. Even a few showers offshore this morning, but would not expect much if any to make it inland.

Forecast for activities this evening will include mostly clear skies with 600pm temperatures in the mid 70’s falling to the upper 60’s by 900pm. Sunset is around 635pm.

NE US will be able to say a final goodbye to Sandy by the end of the week as the large scale low drifts into Canada and the blocking which has been in place and partly responsible for the entire event begins to break down. This will allow the next Pacific storm system to enter the west coast and move into the plains by the weekend. Moisture will increase and models show a slight to moderate chance of rainfall on Sunday-Sunday night as the next cold front crosses the area. Not much cold air behind this front compared to the last so no real big cool down.

Note: Clocks “fall” back this weekend! Sunset Sunday will be around 540pm.
