Storms are re firing near San Antonio as the U/L has slowed which is the reason the Flood Watch has been extended until this afternoon...

Just pulled in to my house from a long overnight drive back from Austin. Going through La Grange all the way to Sealy was nothing but a wall of water and very gusty winds estimated around 55-60 MPH. Didn't see any hail but the rain was blinding. It's now pouring in SGR at my house right now. Lots of lightning and loud thunder. Flooding is all but certainly going to be a problem this morning.

Picked up a quick 1.55" in NW Galveston County with two more areas of rain still to the W and SW. The backyard has lots of standing water.

We'll need to monitor our SW areas. With the surface low inland ~vs~ offshore and moving slowly and the upper low to our W also moving slower than forecasts suggested, another 2+ inches of rain are not out of the question for some areas.

Picked up 2.3 inches here in southwest Austin in the last 24 hours. More on the way for us as well.

FFW was extended as was chance of POPS ... as srainhoutx so well noted, the system is moving slower than the models progged even as late as yesterday.

E-mail update from Jeff:

Excessive rainfall and flooding developing over the region this morning.

Flash Flood Warning is in effect until 930am for Fort Bend, Harris, and Brazoria Counties

Powerful upper level low near Big Bend continues to supply ample lift over SE TX resulting in near continuous development of thunderstorms around Victoria which then train NE across the area. Rainfall in the last 24 hours has averaged 1-2 inches over much of the area with totals nearing 3-3.5 inches over eastern Fort Bend and SW Harris County. There have been numerous reports of flooding this morning mainly limited to roads, however watersheds are running very high and additional rainfall will likely cause some channels to exceed their banks.

Currently these 3 watersheds in Harris County are running very high:
Lower South Madye Creek
Cypress Creek
Carpenters Bayou

Radar continues to show thunderstorms forming in the favorable region of lift on the east side of the upper low from the coastal bend region into SE TX. Additional rainfall amounts of 1-2 inches will be possible which will only worsen ongoing flooding issues.
