Has the opportunity for even a brief light sleet shower come and gone overnight tonight into early morning tomorrow?

It looks a bit too dry in the mid levels right now. Drizzle and perhaps light rain seems more likely if we can get some more lift as the last upper air disturbance heads E. Attention may need to turn to the weekend. Another reinforcing shot of cold air and yet another upper low may track a bit further S from W to E across Texas. We'll also need to monitor any coastal low trough development that the models are trying to sniff out. We will see...sleetstorm wrote:Has the opportunity for even a brief light sleet shower come and gone overnight tonight into early morning tomorrow?

Frozen precip. does not look viable for us now with this event. Almost, but things did not quite come together. However, it is going to be a very chilly week. 50s for highs, and 20s to 30s for lows. Since we stay so cool/cold before the next cold blast arrives, along with another storm system, I don't see how we can keep on escaping some sort of winter precipitation.

Wow...NWS dropped our temps here in Beaumont from 36 to 33 Tues night, 33 to 26 Wed night and 36 to 31 Thurs night! Maybe this front did have a little punch after all...

It is more like snizzle. Something between snow and drizzle. More on the snow side, however.
I'm not surprised, but would not have forecasted anything close to snow as of this afternoon.
Goes to show you just never know around these parts. We get pockets of unusual and unexpected events.

Ch 2 just showed the video of it. If the temps were right and if it stuck to the ground, there would have been accumulation. I think this winter may surprise a lot of people!

Snowing in southeast Texas in the mid to upper40's? Uh, I don't think so. I would have to see solid video proof of this. It was probably just floating drizzle which can easily be confused with very light snow.

Radar is beginning to indicate some light precip in the air. A very light mist has just started up here at my location, but no sleet or anything of the frozen variety at this time...

We have had this conversation many times before. It does not have to be freezing at the surface to snow. Temp forecasts, and current temps are at the surface. I've seen it snow with conditions like we have now many, many times. Want proof? Watch the video from Atascosita on Channel 2. I'm sure they will replay it at 10.

Don't see how it can be full blown snow. More like what Channel 2 calls snizzle.
