It is moving W, Jason. This is actually the same vort that was over near Pensacola/Mobile a couple of days ago that was stationary and dropped 5+ inches of rain over 2-3 days.

I just thought they'd become so excited about something actually happening besides hot, dry, rain fizzling, etc... they had forgotten their directions.... :P

So far, those beneath this disturbance have received from 3-6" of rain in the past 2 days. It's Houston's turn beneath the disturbance today. So far, I've recorded a trace of rain in SW Houston. HCOEM website indicates over 1/2" in eastern Harris County:

I've been watching the radar very closely, and there is a trend that concerns me a little.

So far, I've just had some light rain. It looks like the axis of the disturbance is passing from Liberty into Montgomery county now. To the north and east of it, there is a slot of no precipitation. It looks like that slot could be headed right in my direction, but it's hard to tell if it will keep getting suppressed to the south or not. The line of precip seems to be 'holding' a bit along the Hardin/Jefferson county border. Maybe the heavier stuff showing-up in Central-Southern Liberty county can propagate westward without getting pushed to my south...but it looks like a very close call at this time.

I hear you Jason. It seems that for the past few years Every Single Ingredient Must Be Perfect for us to get rain. Cap is too strong, not enough PW, not enough lift, too windy for sea breeze, too cloudy for daytime heating.... GEEEZ. For the first 20 years I lived in SE Texas, once it got over 90 degrees in the afternoon, Much of the area was gonna get rain...and over the course of a week, Everyone got a good soaking.

Ironically, when I bought this place back in 2005, I asked the owner why he was selling. He said, "it's just too dad-gummed wet all the time". Ha!
The Cockroach Cap plagues Houston and deprives us of rain.

I'm still getting a steady light rain here, but almost all the orange/red that was east of us has gone poof!

Guess the Cockroach took its cap off and enjoyed a Cerveza this afternoon?

Well, the cap hasn't been an issue in quite some time. But as Kludge pointed-out, it seems like every single ingredient has to be in perfect alignment these days to get so much as a speck in the rain gauge...even with this system the totals aren't amounting to very much... :(

Looks like the sun allowed some nice storms to pop out west towards the I-35 corridor. I almost forgot what thunder sounds like. I'm up to .42" here which isn't too bad, but still, I'd really like to get...oh, let's see...maybe TEN TIMES that much!

Rain finally ended for us here in Beaumont. My house received 3.30" since 600am this morning! It was awesome to see that kind of rain again! Port Arthur got up to 6.00" this morning. Cars were stalled, roads were closed...it was a sight! Sorry we keep stealing all your rain Houston. We'll try to share next time! ;)

Just over a tenth of an inch at my house. I'm less than overjoyed. Time to turn the sprinkler on when I get home in the next hour.

When I looked at the radar online this morning, there was red and yellow everywhere! Surely that would make it to Katy this time. But no, once again, the rain Nazi says, "No rain for you!". Anyone else want to kick the rain Nazi in the seat of the pants? :D

On at HWY 105 and one in the Pearland to League City area.

My son was born in June of 2008. I think he's seen it rain heavily about 5 times since then. (one time happened to be Hurricane Ike, which he doesn't really remember).

Sheesh.
It really does seem like Ike was the last really big heavy dose of rain we have had. However, I guess we should be careful what we ask for. Around here, it seems to be feast or famine.

That is incredible, wxman. Porter got hit with heavy rain with this event. I'm definitely saturated over here.
Anyway, I hope you, and all those that still need more rain, get it soon. The tropics look to come alive pretty soon.

Scattered showers/storms around this morning when it was expected to be a bit drier. It looks like pw's are a little above the 2.0 forecasted for today. I also noticed the guidance is now suggesting scattered rain chances through the weekend. Perhaps the return of that Upper Ridge is a bit premature. We will see...
