If we go by history, statistically speaking from 1870 to 2010, I think Texas will receives its first hurricane between late July. Interestingly, June has 6 hurricane landfalls, while July has 5 hurricane landfalls. No major hurricane ever made landfall in June, while one made landfall in July.
Do I think a hurricane can make landfall this year. It is certainly possible. A tropical storm on average makes landfall almost every 2 years, while hurricane is about every 4 years on average, and major hurricane is every 11 years on average.
