Here is a really strange Texas weather event, the Kopperl Heat Burst on June 15, 1960, AKA Satan's Storm. Kopperl is a small town in Texas on the shore of Lake Whitney in North Texas. The temperature was in the 70s and some thunderstorms were nearby. As they rained themselves out, they created violent downdraft. After midnight, gusts of wind as high as 75 mph were recorded. Also, the temperature went up as high as 140°F. Humidity dropped considerably because of dry air rushed in. Air conditioners failed and people ran out thinking their houses were on fire. They were caught under a dry thunderstorm with lots of lightning and strong wind.
