Ok so I say this is the year for 4>2''. Seems like it is around that time again since the last time it happened.
Having 4 +2" snowfall in one winter in Houston has never happened. In fact, I have never heard of 2 +2" snowfall in Houston.

Wx-Man-Fifty-Seven is sleeping right now. But he will likely scroll back to all these pro-snow posts when he awakes, and will pile a layer of dooky on anyone hoping for a white wednesday morning.

But hasn't tonight been fun without naysayers??? If no Happiness happens, wasn't it fun to frolic in wishcasting heaven tonight, without experts telling us that southeast Texas snow is unlikely?

I'm not wishcasting, though. Wxman57 is allowed to have his opinion, as am I. With the data I'm seeing in front of me, I can say we will definitely see some snow. Accumulation? Less likely, but I think we could see a dusting or maybe just above that (up to inch in spots that see the heaviest). Further north, I could see areas like CLL and UTS possibly picking up greater than 4" if the forecasted heavy snow band sets up in that area.

That is what it was before, at least for my area.

I watched her in an interview once, and she had the same laugh as she did on the show. I should just mute her anytime she's on the TV. It doesn't help that Nick@Nite plays her show, now

I just keep thinking about how off the forecasters were for the Dallas area's recent snowfall, as well as srain's admonition that at 48 hrs out, forecasts are far from set in stone. I like that the Houston/Galveston NWS referred to the winter weather "headache." Will be happy with anything, but the possibilities are certainly still alive for some surprises locally.

I really hate to pee in everyone's chili, but "not wishcasting"?

C'mon folks.

While the majority of the public is ready for spring/warmth....why is it the majority of the people here want snow and ice?

I understand about the "excitement" and all, but really.....do you think because you want it, it will happen?

According to EVERY station/meteorologist on local TV there is not much of a chance for Houston to receive snow.

Where are you guys getting your "data"?

Last post and then bedtime...

First of all, a lot of tv mets don't take the time to review every shred of data--a lot of times the time to compare the 18z to the 12z to the 0z just isn't there. They have a show that has to be ready by a certain time. They rely on the expertise of the weather service a lot of times.

Second, they can't just get up there and spout WINTER STORM! First of all, if they blow it, they have their reputation and credability on the line.

Third, by spouting WINTER STORM, you could cost the city and business millions of dollars in preparations. That is why you don't see tv mets going crazy.

I have seen many a tv weather guys miss it big in my day including myself. It's the nature of the business. This is not necessarily a clear cut case of definite snowfall for everybody. Every tv station has mentioned snow was possible. Their viewing area is more than just harris and montgomery counties. There are many who lie in the southern zones who may not see much at all.

Finally, there are some who just don't care. They are there for a paycheck.

Probably all of the stuff that's been posted throughout this thread, but who knows...

Do you still not think we are going to see any freezing rain?

According to EVERY global model on Earth there is a good chance for Houston to recieve snow.

The 0z UKMET and 0z CMC are both slightly colder than the operational GFS, and show a band of precip right over the Houston area around 0z Wednesday (tuesday evening)

If we don't see one single snowflake tuesday evening/night, I'll gladly eat crow or whatever and make a "beat up Mr. T here" thread. I'm not wishcasting. I just firmly believe the odds are stacked against another all rain event.

I don't believe the arguement was whether or not we'd see accumulations. That is another lion to tame. We could certainly not see any, but I just don't see how we do not see any snow at all.

Oh, and no hard feelings towards anyone tonight. I apologize if it seemed rather hurtful. I'm just having fun, that's all. I'm sure plenty of people got a few laughs out of this thread tonight. I'm sure we got some positive results out of it. Like I said, I'll gladly admit I was wrong when the time comes. I probably will be after making such a big deal out of everything. :P

Also, I'm pretty sure Steve and Dan would just wish I'd shut up already, but what would be the fun in that?
