We've had one boundary layer pass through already. There's another one between La Grange and Brenham with our name on it. You don't even have to ask about rain.

Stratton- start posting evidence/images or it didn't happen...and just another Waiting for Godot. It's not too hard on the Euro and GFS to get the picture. Canadian offers a backdoor front, but gets slapped down when reaching I-45...
Misery for a least the next week. At best, it's a Ouija board after that.

100°F for the second time in CLL. However, some dry air has mixed down this afternoon...with DPs in the lower 50s from around 70°F.
Don't see a significant rain signature until September.

Approaching 3 weeks of 100+ out here and no end in sight. This weather makes me physically ill and mentally very angry.

The Aggies should have invited down Michigan, Indiana, or Ohio State to an early September game in the blast heat. Brutalize them!
No matter how the summer begins, we always end up here...except for Harvey. Not much of a choice.

What if we issue tax breaks for cold fronts? Will that entice them to come here? Just a thought. I hate this.

Good morning. I guess this goes without saying that almost every year, we have high pressure domes that dominate at least some part of August. August 2011 was excruciatingly bad with the average high temperature at 103 degrees. Only one time in that month did not hit the century mark and that was 96 degrees. ( I remember when we were all talking about convective temperatures and that is was 103 one day in that month. Low and behold, we hit it and thunderstorms formed. It was almost unbelievable) That being said, ( as I quote Steve) at some point climo will always win ( even in 2011, when in September the temperatures were still hitting over 100 the first five days) out. Normally, the first front ( wind shift) to make a difference will be around September 24/25. We have seen before and even after. We are still within climo limits (3-5 degrees), with the average high being 95 ( 97-100 this week). The dewpoints in the mid to upper 70s make it miserable.

Unfortunately, climo's hand is weaker than 30 years ago. Fall is disappearing. But eventually the sun angle and day length are low and short enough for a *slow* easing of the heat.
August 2023 highs ranged from 99°F to 113°F. Every day after August 15 was 104°F or higher. 0.07 inches of rain for the month. The next "coolest" day after 99°F was 101°F. The average high was a 107°F.
After 9/11, we finally hit the 90s again...but still hit 100°F on September 30. 16 days of 100°F or over in September. 0.26 inches of rain for the month.
Back in the 1990s "Aggie tradition" had rains and "cooler" temps starting that last week of August. Not so sure about this "New Army" weather. lol

Very tired of this boring weather pattern we are in! We are on the downward side for normal highs now. Normal high 95 now instead of 96. Once we get into September and October, seasonal forcing should break down the ridge due to the Super El Niño. Should see an exceptionally active subtropical jet this fall, winter, and upcoming spring. Just getting more moisture from it will help cool us down with additional clouds and rain. The main problem we're having right now is the dead tropics, as most of our rain we do receive this time of year originates from there. Watch out this fall/winter/spring for massive rain events though. Won't be surprised to see several cutoff low events.

Only the EPAC tropical spillover can save us until the SJT sets up and entraining season begins. We need a tropical system to take a right turn across the Pacific coastline toward us.
There is some EPAC moisture with a jailbreak into the Bay of Campeche. There's no evidence that those showers would head toward Texas, but I'll grasp at straws for now!

"Rain Turtles" anyone? How about just a good old fashioned "Rain Dance"? Every day I keep reminding myself: one day closer to the end of August. The older I get, the longer it seems for summer to end.

GFS keeps trying to weaken and shift our heat ridge off to the west in the day 9-10 window , has a pretty decent trough developing over the eastern US and diving S to SW, hopefully we see guidance start to show this outcome
