I wonder about that low pressure system over the Hill Country. I saw forecast models of 30 inches of rain west of San Antonio. :o

Feet of rain west of San Antonio. Not even an inch of rain in Austin. Feast or famine.

Enjoy the cooler weather everyone because next week is going to feature above-average temps with a 594-597 dm ridge building over the state. Looking like highs will be in the mid to upper 90s by mid next week with some triple digits pretty likely.

Let me add this for the Hill Country. First, mid level troughs are hard to predict. Second, when they are interacting with a decaying front and tropical moisture, they are even harder to predict. Prayers for those out west. Eventually, the trough will move westward into New Mexico. Until then, high PWATS, lift and low convective temperatures will spark more thunderstorms/showers. These are efficient rainmakers, so 1-3 ( and even 10-15) hour rainfalls will be common.
