Exactly. Cold air is there. Moisture is there. Climo and low sun angle are there. The rest is luck and magic in terms of warm air spoiling the party.

Even there it's not Armageddon at hand. Now all of it is usually subject to change, but it gives us a glimpse into how off the bolder of cold air was going to steamroll south. In all honesty, waiting until Sunday will be fruitless. We might get the joy of seeing frozen precipitation at night, but it will quickly melt when the sun comes up. Sorry, folks. It is what it is.

Are y'all looking at the Euro? lol It does better for hurricanes than wintry stuff. Canadian knows cold.

Not necessarily, lets just say for instance the CMC is right and we see snow across se texas with potentially significant icing/sleet mixed in, that would keep temperature around or just below freezing even with the sub out, melting would be very slow, the CMC solution would probably have frozen precipitation on the ground for a couple of days based on its temperature output , even a marginal heavy snow would stick around at least a day on the ground if that does happen, but thats an * IF*

I can promise you this inpending forecast will give the firecasters fits. I know it is with Wxman57 and I am just a student. He has all the expertise. I an just waiting on each model, watching and observing. I am more worried about the possibility of severe weather on Sunday as Captain and Doc brought up

The NWS already has us getting down to 18 degrees on Monday night. With a low of 19 on Sunday and Tuesday. With windchills in the single digits.🥶

18z ICON is colder in houston, 12z was around 36 degrees and cold rain, this run is closer to 33 degrees, its extremely close folks, this is a setup where a couple of degrees either way will have huge implications

It won’t surprise me if I turn on the TV and they’ve got ice on overpasses whether it’s freezing on the ground or not there are a lot of implications with this.

As is the case everytime with these storms.

It will be interesting to see if any warm nose comes into play as the event nears. If it does, can the precip cool that warm bubble enough to change over to snow? Time will tell

Don't know how long ago, but someone posted that those southeast Texas pine trees could slow down a cold front. I've never got that out of my head.
Does anyone remember that person😂. Any way, hoping for some snow.

I remember that person that was long ago! Name was Randy with a number attached.
We have seen many times an underestimation of cold air and it usually becomes nowcasting with precip type and the freeze line. This potentially has the hallmarks of ice and sleet if a warm nose is more pronounced.

Silent stalker since the KHOU days / FACT: wxman57 has been more on point over that last decade in these forums than anyone else. He doesnt wishcast, he just tells it like it is. IS he perfect, of course not but I always put alot more stock into what he says vs anyone else.
