Cold is coming with the overall pattern (which is highly welcomed after the last few weeks), but I’m not saying much about severity until I see how cold WCAN gets in the next couple of days, what snow falls over the next few days in Kansas and north and how does the blocking evolve into next week.

I think the first shot will be chilly but I’m not buying winter weather with that one. I’m looking more towards the middle to late part of the month. It should be a well below normal month.

I think you’re worrying too much about it. If this evolves like we think, you’re looking at a good 3 weeks, maybe 4 of solid cold fronts. If the energy keeps coming, even in NW flow, you’re looking at multiple chances of winter weather.

Yes.

I should specify that our place 18 miles south is where we hunt and get away to some weekends.

Our place of residence is between Weimar and Sheridan. No way a band could make it that far. I think that is 27 miles and more SSW.

Folks, another big weather event is setting up for our area around the 10th of January. We need to get a better lock on it around the 6th. You know how things are around here with really anything beyond three days. It's just something different to look forward to. Keep in mind anything being said this far out is NOT a forecast. Just to see the possibility of a snowstorm of this magnitude is extremely rare. I'd rather see that than ice or freezing rain. Keep those on the table as well until we lock in the level of cold air intrusion.

Brazoriatx979 not really, even if the highest probability of hazardous temperatures is to our east, we are still going to get very cold, this cold is driven by the EPO and the tropospheric polar vortex, we are likely going to have very cold weather, im talking highs probably in the 30’s with lows in the 20’s, we dont need the bitter stuff, in fact that euro run shows just low 30’s and has heavy snow all across se texas
