One of the neighboring farms, the guy is 72. He gets his news from the news channels. When I asked him if he needed help winterizing troughs he looked at me weird. Then I showed him a few sites and the multiple models and had a WTF look and said, yeah let’s go ahead.

That’s a first. Holy ****!
Just goes to show you that the models could still be underestimating the cold.

88 below normal, im not even sure any model run came even close to showing a value like that during the 2021 february outbreak, if the models are still underestimating the cold, this could get really ugly for those northern states

Yeah. All-time record lows wouldn’t surprise me in some areas at this point.

I’m feeling very confident based on trends and the cold pooling that I will see teens, easy…. Outside shot at singles depending on precip

Also, ensembles keep the cold around. Even at the end of the ensemble runs, it still has a solidly cold look to it. Impressive signal for cold that far out.

That is like December 1821, January 1886 or February 1899 level.

The coldest in the Lower 48 is in Rogers Pass, Montana at -69.7°F on January 20, 1954. However, that is disputed.

I’ve read about Jane Long and December 1821. Galveston Bay froze over really thick.

It is consistent and relentless.

I’m in the low teens Tuesday morning. Well my house is. I’ll be in KC.
