Cold and 17.5 inches of snow to Weimar shattering the old record. Book it!

If the Euro weekly is correct, it could be a rather cold month with maybe some wintry mischief in store! Fingers crossed!

Most of the time around here January is a dud. This winter looks to be different though so we’ll see what happens.

Big changes coming in january, atlantic blocking + -EPO being shown in the models + strong STJ, warm / mild weather lovers, youre days are becoming numbered
El Nino becomes El Nunya.
You never know - we could get an amplified -EPO and polar vortex jailbreak.

Really excited about January. Could see a bigger version of 2018 mid January.

the CFS and its control run are showing some ridiculous cold shaping up down the road, hold on folks, January could be a wild ride
I still don’t really see a favorable pattern for any decent cold shots during the first week of January. Maybe some upper 20’s to low 30’s for lows are possible but that’s pretty normal.

Give it time, the pieces of the puzzle for an arctic blast are coming together nicely , Euro has some arctic air about to enter the US at the end of its run, GFS 18z is trending toward the euro, time frame to watch is the 4-th-8th, both with the blocking on ensembles, i expect an extended period of below normal temp’s
Well this looks promising:

I saw a video of someone talking about a polar vortex.
It looks like the CPC is slowly beginning to buy into a colder pattern with continued chances for precip.
Next week is looking wet for us. With possibly two Baja lows moving through triggering cyclogenesis in the Gulf by mid next week and also the weekend. (Below is the EURO depicting both storm systems next week) we'll see...

The 12z Euro has a rain bomb of like 10+” just off the coast of Brazoria County, sheesh. Most of us get 2-4” on that run.
I’d recommend watching Pow Ponders video today. Pretty good update.

I saw it earlier. Things could get really interesting...Cpv17 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 28, 2023 3:43 pm I’d recommend watching Pow Ponders video today. Pretty good update.

The 1973 comparison is so insanely close.
This also reminds me of 97 or 98. My memory is a bit fuzzy.

POW said the SSW is like what happened in 2019 and 2021. The 2021 mention got my attention.
I remember the 1973 winter fun. Everything shut down. Us kids thought we would walk to the store. We didn’t get far lol.
