I don’t know if they are legit readings or not, but several stations on Wundermap are 110+ on the north side and in Montgomery County. There is a 113 a couple of miles from me.

I’d bet they are legit readings, well many at least. Huntsville Airport has already hit 112. Conroe airport has hit 107, Hooks airport has hit 108. College station has hit 110. Heck Bay City has hit 107!!
All those readings per NWS observations that were last updated at 14:53 (over an hour ago).

It hit 107.2 IMBY. Doesn’t matter how much you water, grass is shriveled up and crunchy by this time of the day until the sun goes down

Our yard is still in pretty good shape over here, all things considered. We have a good amount of trees though. Our pasture is completely fried though and tbh it’s basically just dirt at this point.

107.2 at a station down the road (mine is still dead). It’s one of the coolest stations in the area but I trust it because it’s like an $800 station.

Yes, there is definitely a lot to be said about heat and drought relative to a given average. That is definitely quite devastating for sure.
But still. Even the hottest and driest deserts still feature humans permanently inhabiting them. No such thing in the coldest Antarctica.

Not good and assets are all stretched thin. Watching the aviation assets just traversing the state is rough to see. Feel worse for the folks working hard on the ground in this heat.
Feel like there will be a massive tree kill-off with this drought and heat.

Looking at height maps, the center of the "death ridge" pulled well north of SE Texas. So I'm really not sure what is going on that is making the temps so hot.

Yes, but that was true yesterday too. Yet highs were few degrees cooler in SE Texas (overall).
If dews were lower today, probably from subsidence ahead of the tropical low? Or maybe a bit hotter temps aloft mixing down to the surface (850-700mb).
