December 2022
The NWS forecast is now right in line with Montgomery and my predictions. If we can only get lucky with a little moisture!

I still think CLL could see 8-9 degrees
And I’m certainly not throwing in the towel on potential precip late Christmas Eve.

It's very possible, although the Aggie UHI could mitigate by a few degrees.
It ain't over until it's over on precip! (except during the summer in CLL)
Strong CAA could overcome that.Ptarmigan wrote: ↑Sun Dec 18, 2022 3:43 pmOften when the temperature does not go above freezing, it is cloudy. The forecast has it as clear.TexasMetBlake wrote: ↑Sun Dec 18, 2022 3:34 pm NWS has lowered the expected low at IAH to 15°F on Thursday night and 19°F on Friday night. Still might not be low enough. Yikes.

Any moisture that falls will probably fall north of hwy 1*5
The NWS has my area with a high of 48 on Christmas day i think that may be a bit high.
accuweather has katy at 9 degrees on thursday and 18 on friday as lows .
its worse than thier saying. if they can't get temp right how do we know about precip.
hoping for a white out.

As I say, these arctic airmasses always have surprises with them, I mean im not calling for snow, but I wouldnt be shocked to see a few flakes fly somewhere,

Where are you located? I looked across a few models…. I see nothing remotely in that range. I’m guessing some coastal areas could see low-mid 40s on Christmas but that would be it.

Must be some climo factored in, because the majors don’t show that.brazoriatx wrote: ↑Sun Dec 18, 2022 4:53 pm Sat high of 39 and Xmas day a high of 47 for me in angleton..

I’m beginning to wonder if I pop above freezing Saturday…. Maybe 34-35 max.

Wife and I are supposed to fly out to Charlotte on Christmas day, then drive to Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge on the 26th until the 29th for our 25th anniversary. Do you think we should cancel due to the weather, or should we be ok? Our main concern is driving across the Smokies on the 26th.

You folks should be just fine. It's going to be cold, but currently no precipitation in our local forecast for the 26th. North Carolina DOT does a remarkable job keeping I-40 open. There is some construction on I-40 near the Tennessee State Line in the Pigeon Gorge, but delays are nothing like the Houston metro area. Enjoy your trip and Happy Anniversary!suprdav2 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 18, 2022 4:55 pm Wife and I are supposed to fly out to Charlotte on Christmas day, then drive to Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge on the 26th until the 29th for our 25th anniversary.
