I’m not worried about that. The GFS is actually looking better for us overall the past few runs. A few more shifts and we could be in the ballgame. Plenty of time.

Remember, do not live and die on every single model run. The trend is your friend. Plus, this far out, it always loses either cold air, precipitation. 4 to 5 days out is when the models really start honing in on a particular evemt.

Their is still a lot of time for things to change lol, the GFS is known for showing something exciting, then dropping it, only to bring it back again once we get into the short range , the trough position is getting better by each run and that is a good thing, plus the mesocale models might do a better job of sniffing out any sort of disturbance that moves in behind the Siberian airmass in. place once they get into range

Yep, plenty of time to watch the models progress as we move through the weekend but its time to start thinking about freeze preps especially if you will be traveling away from home next week for Christmas weekend.

I didn’t realize 1983 got that cold. I always thought it was just a long duration freeze but nothing extreme like that.

1983 was quite cold. It set many records.
