Christmas is now in view of our 10 day forecast, and right out of the gate we are predicting this to be among Houston's top 5 coldest Christmas mornings.
It will likely be even colder for the days leading up to Christmas, and yes, there is a small but legit chance there could be wintry precip on Christmas weekend.
More on that later.

I don’t know either, but he’s a respected on-air met so it’s significant to me.brazoriatx wrote: ↑Thu Dec 15, 2022 4:33 pm From Travis on fb

I definitely wouldn’t give up on precip yet. Still about a week out. Things could and probably will change at this range.

What are the chances of us getting a warm nose with this? It almost usually happens and gives us ice instead of snow

Teens?
I wouldn’t be worried about ice with an ULL with a Siberian airmass in place.

Usually it’s always colder then what models show with these air masses
20-25 inches in RDU.
That is VAST! The Siberian Express is on the way.Stratton20 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 15, 2022 3:36 pm Just in from the CPC, HIGH risk includes all of SE Texas, winter is coming with a fury folks, buckle up🥶🥶🥶
Yes, I've seen the winds could be that high behind the front.
That would be single digit wind chills during the day. Be prepared to batten down the front yard X-mas decorations.
For CLL part of the cold conditions were a snow pack all the way from Canada to Navasota and Hwy 1*5.
Huge. They usually wait until within 3-5 days.txsnowmaker wrote: ↑Thu Dec 15, 2022 4:43 pmI don’t know either, but he’s a respected on-air met so it’s significant to me.brazoriatx wrote: ↑Thu Dec 15, 2022 4:33 pm From Travis on fb

To sleep, perchance to dream.
If it does snow with the 40+ mph wind, we'd have unbelievable blizzard conditions. The Christmas Eve snow in 2004 had barely a whisper of a breeze.
EPS has picked up the 500mb vorticity as well.DoctorMu wrote: ↑Thu Dec 15, 2022 5:46 pmYes - I posted that earlier.MontgomeryCoWx wrote: ↑Thu Dec 15, 2022 4:48 pmVorticity maps are picking up on what could be a ULL when the cold is in placebrazoriatx wrote: ↑Thu Dec 15, 2022 4:33 pm From Travis on fb

Awesome! Also, there’s a lot of time for this to trend in the right direction!Stratton20 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 15, 2022 5:51 pm Travis herzog said they have a 20% chance of precipitation on christmas day due to a disturbance moving in behind the front, hmmmm![]()
