Yes it DID storm today. Lol. Im afraid to mention it now cause so many have been without. Lol. Hopefully everyone will see some rain this coming week. And we can somewhat all get back to normal precipitation.
When you have a stark contrast like this, that further drives my conclusion that the ridge is clearly irrelevant (in/of itself).

Instead, I think there needs to be more discussion on "rossby waves". I believe the ridge that we see is merely just part of the downstream effect originating from a wave train farther west (i.e. Asia and Pacific). Rather than it necessarily being an entity unto itself.

Rosharon doesn't seem too far away from central Houston (@Hobby Airport) that I usually keep track of. Looks like some solid storms headed your way — maybe that can give way to deeper coverage as the complex moves closer.
We'll see. We missed 100% of last weeks activity here. We only managed about an inch or so the day after the tropical blob a few weeks ago but that's been it for a long time.

Everything today so far has slide right by us as usual. I hear thunder but have seen no rain.

I think it’s a decent possibility you’ll see some storms start to pop in the warm sector further west. Looks like slow movers too.

What is causing this rain, though? The discussion mentions inverted trough, but why is the activity initializing from the north (rather than from the Gulf as typical with inverted troughs)?

Yep. All this good stuff is north of me like usual. And I see an outflow coming through to kill any chances to the south. We literally got on the road and it's pouring less than 1 mile from our house and moving away.

In the middle of the donut hole with storm cells spinning counterclockwise around us.

Raining here now!

Edit: it started to rain a little and then it halted. The bottom better drop out on this cloud or I’m SOL!! I’m not seeing any new lightning signatures in the vicinity and that’s concerning. I hope the updraft didn’t collapse.

Wow, it’s falling apart over me. This is just sickening. I’m gonna be watering tonight, picking up yard debris, and cleaning my pool out for nothing.

NADA here in Cypress again. Looks like nothing is making it west of 45.

This thing made a giant donut around the entire beltway almost. Its early so maybe some outflow storms can pop up but its not looking promising.

Well I’m not the only one. Looks like Aldine, Jersey Village, Cypress, Katy all got shafted. The outflow just outran it literally as it got here. One of the more painful misses. It looked like a sure thing.

Like a glutton for punishment, I keep watching. And of course Lucy wants to jack with me. Still in a donut, an hour later. A nice area of moderate rain is forming along 59 towards Humble and Kingwood…but the development is pushing SE now, in the opposite direction!!

I’m watching the Florida real estate prices leveling off…. ;) ;)

Saw this on Storm2k. Gotta keep an eye on the Gulf soon. What is concerning is look at all the W/WNW movement from many members.
