230 years ago this year, the Atlantic witnessed the deadliest month on record for the Atlantic. Three different hurricanes claimed over 1,000 lives. It eclipses 1893 and 2005. One of them was the Great Hurricane of 1780, which claimed 22,000 to 30,000 lives. It is also the deadliest season on record, besides 1998 and 1900.
