Cloudy ... occasional light rain ...temps in the mid 70's. Had a pretty decent band of rain come through earlier today. Lawn is soaked and backyard is flooded at this time.

So, my outdoor thermometer shows 115 (that can't be right, the sun must be directly on it...) I'm having a heck-of-a-time keeping my tow-maters alive!!!!! Hate to see my water bill! Would welcome ANY relief!

My tomatoes are 4+ feet tall! I put them at the side of the house...they get direct sun from about 2 4:30...setting tomatoes for the second run. The last time I had tomato plants that did this well was the year Allison hit...we had 6 inches of standing water in the yard...lost leaves from the bottom up about 3 feet..then they started growing again...they produced until October or so...cucumbers are doing well..all but peas and corn doing ok...I have the dripline from my A/C draining into water paths in the garden...

What's the weather like here in Friendswood?

Well, that's hard to say.

It's been raining like mad all day, and given that there are four major creeks --- Chigger Creek, Coward's Creek, Mary's Creek and Clear Creek --- that run through Friendswood, we usually have a couple of them flood. But when I was watching KHOU scrolling the names of creeks out of their banks here in Friendswood, they listed one I'd never heard of.

Where is "Sugar Creek"?

Did someone take a phone report and mis-hear "Chigger" as "Sugar"?

Of course, I've seen "Coward's Creek" occasionally spelled here as "Cowart's Creek". Even the locals are confused about that one. But in 20 years here, I've never heard of "Sugar Creek".
