I certainly hate to hear this about Dan. The meteorologist world has lost a good one. He will truly be missed around here. Thoughts and prayers to all of Dan's family and friends.

I've been watching the videos of Dan on YouTube. The one showing him singing was amazing.
There are not any tears left to cry. Why is it always the good people who must suffer? Dan is all over this forum. I hope you all realize his pain and sacrifice while helping build this forum to be what it is today. Many of his posts were not to long before his journey on this earth was ending. It is going to be sad and difficult to carry on, but we can not let what he dreamed, and his hard work be in vein.

Arizona Desert loved Dan so much. Sometimes we look back at ourselves and we look like a fool.

God bless Dan Meador and his family.

Thoughts and prayers to all of Dan's family and friends. When I first came to KHOU during the 2004 season he taught me a lot of things and helped expand my knowledge of weather. I will never forget him...

I'm so sad to hear of Dan's passing. I will keep his family in my prayers. Dan was always such a great guy, very smart and always had great answers and never made anyone feel less than. Dan was a great person to deal with some of the things here and past forums with such stride. I am so glad to have "known" him in the short stint that I did on the forums. Dan will be missed by many. Rest in Peace Dan among the skies you watched so diligently.

I know more than a few on the basement are saddened by the news as well.

I've just felt so empty inside since I heard the news. It's surreal to me. This is going to take some time for me to put this in perspective. I feel so bad about this. I never in a million years would have ever thought this would happen. I don't think any of us did. I'm trying to get "excited" about the potential tropical development in the Gulf but it's so hard to knowing that Dan isn't going to chime in with his wisdom. But yet, I know he is chiming in. He made this forum .... he brought all of us together .... This is part of his legacy and he needs us to trudge on and keep people informed and updated.
I was on the shores of Clear Lake last night and I saw the most beautiful rain shaft that literally was glowing to my southwest. I was thinking of Dan right when I saw it and thought...."This has got to be Dan's way of saying ... I am still here with all of you!!!!"
I have learned this weekend not to take anyone for granted ever again. Life is too short for all of us and we must love one another and respect all. Even as Biggerbyte said ... AZ loved Dan so much. This was true....even as annoying as he was!!!!!
Dan you have taught all of us alot!!!! I will never forget you my friend. May God continue to bless you. ....Oh ...can you have God throw a little rain our way .... it's gettin kind of dry!!!!! Thanks ;)

He did a wonderful job setting up this board. Lets try to make it a testament and tribute ti his memory.
Agreed. I still can not believe he is gone. I still half expect him to pop back up and say..ha ha hailing frequencies are back open.....very sad. When is the funeral?

This is so sad to me.
Dan was a friend I never got to meet in person.

My wife came into the living room yesterday and said, "Your friend passed away."
For some reason I knew who she was referring to.

I remember many late nights on the boards with Dan.
(Katrina, Rita, Ike, Thunderstorms and Snow)
A really humorous and generous man that taught me a lot about weather.
You are missed.

RIP Dan.

Sorry about the loss of Dan. I never knew him, but he sounded like a great guy which is apparent by the feelings I see here. Wish I'd signed up here earlier and had the chance to interact with him.

You know i've read just about every post about Dan over the last couple of days, and i thought that on this forum we may not agree on how strong or where a storm may go, or whether or not it will snow in Houston, but one thing that we could all agree on is that Dan touched the people he knew personally and those he never met in the most positive of ways.

I was very shocked when I opened up KHOU's webpage yesterday and read the article. I always remember having conversations with him on the phone when I called in my weather report. He was one of a kind! RIP Dan.

I'm just in a lot of shock and disbelief here, man... He was taken way too young

I first staggered upon this forum in late 2004. Since that time, Dan was definitely been a very inspiring and helpful person to know through my years of high school. No matter how silly and idiotic a question that I asked would seem, Dan would not hesitate to answer. I don't think he has really ever became agitated or angry at anyone on here (wish I could say the same thing about myself). He was never shy with helping out anyone, and he seemed like such a caring individual. We have all certainly lost one hell of a guy, and I'm sure Dan's footprints on this forum will never leave. He really is the reason why we are all here today. Back when he was the only admin and pro met on this forum, he was willing to help out and answer anyone, keeping a friendly, inviting attitude along the way that helped build up the forum to what it is today.

Although I was only able to meet with him during a short period several years ago, I can see from what others are saying about him in real life that he was indeed as he seemed behind the computer screen. It was a very fun time we all had back at the KHOU studio, and I only wish we could have met once again...

Remember his favorite saying "Pandora's box"? Or "Dan's magic?"? Good times, man... So many events we've all been through together -- when I have time, I would love to go back and relieve some of those times. Just too many things to remember about right now.

I know that what he was battling was a very painful disease, and I am relieved that the pain is now gone. For that, we can all be happy for.

RIP Dan. And, thank you for everything

"...suddenly you were gone...
from all the lives you left your mark upon..."
My thoughts and prayers go out to the Meador family, the KHOU family and all the wonderful folks on this forum. Dan was one of a kind and we were truly blessed to have him. I never had the opportunity to meet him, I don't interact much on the forum, but just like all of us, I still feel like I've lost a friend. You will not be forgotten.
Mention this to me

I had the pleasure of working with Dan for many years at KHOU. He was always a professional with a keen sense of humor...both qualities that are sorely missed by everyone who knew him.

There's no doubt that Dan is in a place with a great view of the weather.
