I've got some incandescent bulbs under frost guards to try to save my two small citrus trees. Similar under a covering for my exposed water softening system. Short power outages, no big deal, so hopefully it doesn't lead to long ones.

33 now in Beaumont. Few sleet pellets and light rain in the last quick band. Been at or around 38 all day. The last 2 hours it’s dropping temps quick. Im off work tomorrow and Tuesday so Im sure Ill be up all night.. too exciting. .....well till my pipes burst. Lol. But have done all i can to prevent. Prep is done!

Snowman65...trust me, you will see something other than rain. Its not time yet for the main event in Beaumont/Orange.

And how will we know if it’s the rolling blackouts or power lines snapped?

Been raining off and on for the last few hours and now lightly sleeting. All the trees and vegetation are becoming very stiff with a thin glaze of ice forming on them. You can hear the icy noise in the wind when the branches are hitting one another. I'm right off of I-10 & 99 in Katy and right around 30°.

Okay, the NWS has either lost their minds or they are now casting. It's "going to hit the fan" is back again.

Reports that the Grand Parkway is closed at Katy Freeway because of ice on the road. I can see 99 & I-10 out from my balcony and there are emergency lights along 99. It looks like they have the flyovers closed and not the freeway itself since I can still see cars traveling both north and southbound.
