Now being monitored by the NHC...

I will say this, if there's anything about 'tropical mischief' season (to use srain's phrasing) it certainly provides a chance to hone those model and atmospheric dynamics watching skills. We could see September's thread accumulate pages rather quickly. Just need to catch our breaths after watching Laura.

I count 4 potential areas of interest over the next 10 days on the ECMWF chart. At day 8 those areas of interest stretch from the W/SW Caribbean Sea to a potential Hurricane nearing the Caribbean Islands, another mid way across the Atlantic and a vigorous wave exiting West Africa.

Here we go again.

I've learned my lesson on NHC consensus, though. 8-)

I’ve decided to keep my house windows covered until we pass the peak of the season. One thing I’ve learned about 2020 is be prepared for the worst and hope for the best.

This is just for fun, but the GFS has a big front coming down towards the end of the run. Lows in the low 50’s. Either way it means fall will be here before we know it.

Continuing to be lorded over by the over reach of government with their mask mandates and lock down threats are also threats.

If we could get just ONE mosquito and bug killing cold snap to actually follow through on the models this year, I would be happy. It seems like we've had dozens just shift off to the east before blowing on through to the gulf over the last few years.

Give me a REAL Blue Norther with the clear blue skies for days afterwards. Been missing those for a while. A long while.

Have a great weekend everyone. Continued prayers for our friends to the east. Gonna be a haul of a recovery.

I just don't want to happen what has happened the last 2 years....get a good cold front in November and then that's all we get the rest of winter

Keep a keen eye on Typhoon Maysak in the Western Pacific. It may become a Super Typhoon threatening S Korea/Japan and buckle the Northern Pacific Jet Stream. It may have significant impact on the sensible weather across North America. Typically we see an unusually stout Ridge/Trough/Ridge pattern established in this sort of scenario. The models also tend to be chaotic during the evolution of such a significant pattern change. Tropics look active and a lot of territory may see their first legitimate Fall Cold Front. Fingers crossed for the cold Front solution for Texas!

We could use a few blue northers this winter.

If a front does come through, that will shut the door down on hurricane season in Texas.

The front would stall in the Gulf and create its own tropical system.

Yep, come on with it.

Even though the tropics will be getting active, our days are numbered along the middle and upper Texas coast from a climatology standpoint.
