MAY 2020
98 at the casa today.
94°F IMBY, but the dewpoint is 7°F higher than yesterday - and the heat index hit the Century mark. The grass loved it. We'll hang on until Friday and the weekend with rain chances....and avoid turning on the sprinklers.
Euro has most of the rain west of Houston (Austin, Hill Country), but nearly 2 inches in BCS from Friday noon to Tuesday evening. Fingers crossed!

I didn’t become a Texan until 2013 (from SW Louisiana, so similar climate). Please educate me as to what the 2007 Summer was like....
Rain every week. When I left Ohio State (graduated in December 2006) I moved to Houston. That summer I was in a recreational sports league and we had rain out after rain out.
Humberto was that Summer as well. Hugged the Texas coast and spun up in less than 24 hours.

I realize where I live. I chose here because of the economy and opportunity.cperk wrote: ↑Tue May 19, 2020 12:38 pmMontgomeryCoWx wrote: ↑Mon May 18, 2020 7:24 pmYep. It feels like I shoved a bottle of El Yucateco up my backside and I am standing on my head. This weather is for the birds.
Man I thought I was the biggest hot weather hater in a Texas looks like I was wrong.
I’m not lying when I say that I hate temps over 75 in this climate because of the humidity. 80 and really really dry isn’t bad, but I’m very warm blooded. I can sit on my back porch in sweatpants and a t shirt when it’s 35 outside.

Gotta head out to Abilene area this weekend (well, south of it, but nobody knows where Paint Rock is). Looks like we might see a lot of rain.

I recently saw a Texas Country Reporter segment wherein they highlighted a man who welds iron in Paint Rock. He makes some very lovely iron cooking pans that are a bit above my pay grade.
I would like to visit Paint Rock one day.
Enjoy your trip, Cro.
Little bit drier air (when it's not raining) out that direction in the Concho Valley between Ballinger and Eden. But those folks out there will take every drop they can get.
Currently 93 with a feels like of 103 here in Rosenberg. Way too hot out there. Hottest day of the year so far imo.

While you SE Texas folks are sweltering, it was 47F this morning in Western NC and it struggled to reach a high of 54F with rainfall and some of it very heavy. I still haven't turned on the A/C this year.

Rub it in! I’m sure you don’t miss this heat one bit. I sure wouldn’t! Our AC is running like its August already!srainhoutx wrote: ↑Wed May 20, 2020 7:42 pm While you SE Texas folks are sweltering, it was 47F this morning in Western NC and it struggled to reach a high of 54F with rainfall and some of it very heavy. Just hope this hurricane season is nice to us. Saw Jeff’s email earlier about the monsoonal trough in early June and we will see how it plays out.
