October: Chilly Halloween Outlook
It's very damp in the air. The front should have a nasty line ahead of it later today.

I was wondering the same thing..last yr we had a pretty decent cold fall..then when winter came it barely got cold at all
Front is through already. Passed my place at about 6:20 this morning when I was at a very comfortable 70 degrees. Down to 57 now. We should see some showers and maybe a little thunder with the 850mb front this afternoon but nothing major.
Where’s the rain at? I thought it would be raining off and on all day today. Big chance of rain and nothing has come out of it.
Lull for now - this was the update a couple of hours ago:

.DISCUSSION...
SHORT TERM [Today Through Tonight]...
Updated grids/forecast this morning to account for the frontal
boundary position and some timing adjustments to the pops. The
leading edge of the NW wind shift is just south of Matagorda Bay
to near LBX to GLS Bay. There is quite a gradient with temps
across the area, with Caldwell at 47 and Galveston at 78. The
front should move through Galveston in about an hour. Much of the area will see somewhat of a break in the rain from now through early afternoon, but around mid afternoon expect showers and isolated thunderstorms to develop and expand in coverage as the 850 mb front moves in and across the area this eve. Later today we will be issuing a wind advisory for coastal areas with strong northerly winds expected overnight. Wood
Canadian joins NAM in bringing the freezing temps to CLL tomorrow night. A frosty but clear Halloween night placing that 30°F record in sight.srainhoutx wrote: ↑Wed Oct 30, 2019 9:57 am The 12Z NAM suggest we will struggle to reach a high in the low/mid 40's tomorrow with a freeze possible across our Western and Northern Regions tomorrow morning. Light winds and clear skies Friday morning may well bring 30's into Metro Houston. Gardner's be aware!
Progressive pattern after the weekend.
Crazy. 81 in Beaumont while you guys in Hou are at 58!
Its hot, very humid here. Cmon front! You can do it!

Judging by the latest run of the models, it doesn’t look like these strong cold fronts are going to let up anytime soon over the next couple weeks. There could be another major front coming later next week. And a few days after that the 18z GFS has a 1050mb high dropping south out of Canada.

I just went outside to let the dogs out. That wet, chilly wind is brutal. No, thank you. This is Houston, Texas not Montana. I’m sleeping in tomorrow morning. Too cold to run.

The advection is really rolling in here. Tomorrow will be a nice day to dry out. Another inch of rain in the backyard. I'm happy for our trees, bushes. Despite 2 application of fungicide over the last month and sulfur, the brown patch is back this afternoon with a vengeance. With a frost night tomorrow night, that's the end of mowing season.
This time of year can feature our best weather. Not steel gray Nov skies like the midwest, and El Nino Jan and Feb (like last winter). Cold (that's relative in TX) weather is not a bother, but rain and cold are no fun. It might as well snow.

38F in NW Harris County and breezy. The forecast low tomorrow morning for IAH is 33F. Our typical first freeze at Bush is around December 6th or so.

This afternoon should be sunny and in the 50s. Great weather for running.
Low near freezing tonight in CLL, Conroe and NW Harris.
