good: radar looks promising for some (I should have mowed) https://www.weather.gov/hgx/

bad: I have to pick up someone from the airport tonight :(

from flightaware:
Houston Bush Int'ctl is experiencing delays

departure delays of 46 minutes to 1 hours (and increasing) due to weather
all inbound flights being held at their origin until Wednesday at 06:45PM CDT due to thunderstorms

The old GFS has what looks to be a cat one into the central Texas coastline:

Our sweet thunderstorm has moved on but I am very grateful that we got a taste of this nice little August front from the North.

I will run the sprinklers tonight anyway.

The west side of town is getting drenched. Just a brief shower and now drizzle on the east side. At least it cooled off from 102°F to 81°F!

We had a extremely noisy late afternoon with absolutely crazy cloud to ground lightning followed by some very welcome rainfall. My yard is grateful!

Damn. Blew my loose fence (from dry clay) to a lean and ripped up a few shingles. Just what I want to work on to fix when it's hot as hell.

Both the euro and GFS are now on the same page. Both have the disturbance that will be coming thru the caribbean waiting till it's in the BoC before trying to organize. Looks like a weak ts around corpus sometime next weekend. Sure there will be further differences but we're closing in on a window to take a potential threat more seriously...

1.4" in northern Brazoria county last night. Temps dropped from about 95 -> 72. There was a LOT of lightning, too.
