Guess this is the last hurrah for SE Texas this winter. Hopefully we don't see 90 degree weather until June, but we badly need it to dry up for awhile.

Fairly dry in northern Brazoria county, but JEEZ is the wind brutal!!! Out of the NE between 5-10 MPH, and it just goes right through you!

I’m getting some sleet pellets here mixed with rain. 41.5 degrees with a dew point of 29.

Also got down to 36 this morning - a bit cooler than expected.

Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Houston/Galveston TX
1133 AM CST Fri Feb 8 2019

.AVIATION [18Z TAF Issuance]...

Surface analysis has high pressure over the Plains with northerly
winds over the area. These winds will stay around 10 to 15 knots
for much of the day, closer to 15 knots down along the coast where
the pressure gradient is tighter. Ceilings are at VFR with mainly
overcast 10000ft. Upper level pattern shows jet streak and upper
level trough over northern Mexico which should move across Texas
tonight. Lift from this along with some isentropic lift should
keep overcast conditions going tonight and then ceilings lowering
through tomorrow morning. There may be some pockets of rain as
isentropic lift increases along with lowering ceilings. MVFR
ceilings may be possible late tomorrow morning into the
afternoon.

Convection seems to be increasing a bit closer to SE Texas particularly across the Brazos River Valley. Would not be surprised to see heavy burst of sleet across the Bryan/College Station areas.

Our Week-2 and Weeks 3&4 outlooks anticipate a pattern change as we head into late Feb/early March, with increased chances for below-normal temperatures sliding east of the Rockies while drier than normal odds increase across much of the lower-48 states. https://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/products/ ... ns/814day/
