January: Calmer Pattern To End The Month
Heavy sleet now. Back deck is covered.
I know we just have to wait and see, but does anyone think we may end up getting Winter Storm Warning criteria this afternoon? Or do will the precip end in the next few hours and dry out.. I see the moisture west of us but wonder what will happen. Maybe a surprise?
moisture should move out before it gets to that point.
Hmmmm.. I wonder if the school districts who cancelled school for tomorrow will have to cancel their cancellation. Lol

Update from Jeff:
Mixed winter precipitation ongoing across much of SE TX.
Freezing line continues to move southward and is bringing much of the area north of US 59 over under freezing. Temperatures have fallen into the upper 20’s and lower 30’s north of I-10 with freezing rain/sleet/snow accumulating on rooftops and vehicles. Numerous reports of sleet and snow accumulation across northern Harris and southern Montgomery Counties.
Treated bridges and overpasses remain in good shape, but road crews are sanding several location as a precaution all across the region.
Starting to see the back edge of the precipitation passing south of College Station and continues to look like ending times will be within the next hour north of HWY 105, around noon along I-10 and early afternoon along the coast.

I think some ppl might be mistaken sleet for snow as it's falling..I've seen some video that clearly looks like sleet not snow

Weird, just getting rain here in Friendswood.SusieinLP wrote:Heavy sleet now. Back deck is covered.
I can assure you we had mostly rain, then freezing rain, then mostly sleet and a changeover to snow for a period of time.
We are currently getting light sleet w/small snow flurries in the mix - 290/Gessner area.

Can confirm light sleet mixed with rain here in Dickinson.
Yeah, it was sleeting enough for me to hear it hit the windows but it's stopped...but now little tiny flakes, and I do mean tiny but yeah. Not sure about Friendswood but I'll try to post a pic
If I remember right, yesterday he was telling everyone its going be a LA storm! Even though he wont admit it, he's eating his words now! Anyway....back to weather.....Beaumont! Cold! Ice! Tons of sleet falling, but as of yet no snow, but the moisture that looks to have produced Houston's snow is headed east towards the Golden Triangle area. we sha'll see!

Ok, on to the next event! During these two events the elusive feathery snowflake has stayed in hiding. Will the next big front showing up in the extended be the one that gives us all a blanket of snow? Stay tuned!!
