I thought I was seeing things but heading home from Conroe on 1314, seemed like ther was " something" mixed with mostly rain.
No rain, no rainbows.

Evening all from League City. Temp here 39 with light rain and windy. Wanted to post this loop graphic link showing just how quickly the freezing line is approaching the area...also indicating RH's. Last image really showing the surge of colder air pushing South along with dryer air from the North. Of interest is the area South of the Big Bend which shows moisture from the Pacific being drawn in this direction. A possible lull in the activity until temps drop to near/below freezing?

this reminds me of some years ago......not 2011, but much earlier. It was raining just like this and I stepped outside after dark, my steps up to my apartment were already frozen. While I was asleep, I heard the transformer blow and when I woke up later, everything was covered in ice. :o

I am looking at Doppler radar and notice snow west of Houston. I wonder if it is an error.

Do you remember when? January 1997 had an ice storm and power went out from falling limbs that were ice covered.

It's been so long ago, but I still remember. At that time I was working on 1960 - like I am now. Dad came to get me since my cordless (didn't have a cell phone then) was out - hung out at mom's for the day.

I'm growing a little concerned. The plume of moisture seems to all be north and a good chunk of it east into LA and not much but scattered west of SA/AUS. Will the moisture move too quick before it starts to freeze in our area. Doesn't seem like too much is left.

I think this may end up being the worst ice storm Houston's seen since 1997.But not as bad as 1997's ice storm.

Still plain old moderate rain here, but I am a couple miles southeast of the university.

Again, this isn't the main event. The optimal lift will happen much later and the plume of moisture will come from the SW
