According to NWS the potential still exist for severe storms until this evening.

Widespread rain and thunderstorms will continue today. The threat for the heaviest rainfall will occur from the late morning through the afternoon before the rain tapers off this evening. Additional rainfall amounts of 2 to 3 inches are possible. Because of the wind shear in the lower atmosphere, there is a slight risk for strong or severe thunderstorms producing damaging winds and isolated tornadoes today through early this evening.

This place is pretty quiet seeing as how the main event is about to unfold. Finally getting the training stroms creeping ever so close to Houston. If it stalls its eastern movement over the city, things could get ugly.

Just remember those 5-7" maps were widespread across all of SE Texas. While isolated totals may get there, it looks more and more like that isn't going to verify.

As I understand it, this rain event won't be over until the upper level low south of the Big Bend crosses over southeast Texas. Looking at the inrared loop, http://www.goes.noaa.gov/GSSLOOPS/wcir.html, it doesn't seem to have moved much over the past few hours. I'm wondering if it will in fact be over by tomorrow as the current forecast is calling for.

Is the line that is coming through now going to be it. I keep hearing there is supposed to be a squall line later this afternoon but I dont see anything developing out west.

Everyone is getting a lot of rain but this is really a lame event. Just rain. Nothing exciting. Oh well. I guess exciting weather wouldn't be exciting if it happened frequently

Yes, this is the "main" line. However, we could still see a few showers later this afternoon/evening.

This was never a really big severe weather event. When you have this much moisture with only a minimal CAPE you aren't going to get much severe, especially now that the atmosphere has been so effectively worked over.

How are the bayou's holding up? Any near bankful or over their banks?

How fast is this line moving through? Once this event is done then we have a few days of dry then another round this weekend. With next week more rain and maybe cold temps!

Lame event? wth??? All areas are getting a damn good rain including the drought stricken areas of the hill country out near Portastorm...thank god!! The hill country is my home away from home and this is a GREAT event for the entire state! If you are disappointed that someone didn't have a tree land on their house because of a severe storm then you have issues. Carry on.

Nice to see rain. Of course, we could use more. If severe weather happened, that would be an isolated event to begin with. Severe weather looked to be minimal anyways. I notice stronger storms south of Houston and heading north.
