Re: February 1-5, 2011 Arctic Blast/Winter Storm Discussion

My daughter in Copperfield was having some more Freezing Rain a little while ago. Has anyone in that area seen anything? Here in Spring Branch we have almost 1/4" glaze on everything. Driveway is a little iced but surface street is ok. Not going out to check though. Son had to work but they fin...

Re: February Weather. Snow/Sleet/Ice/Winter Storm Warning

The precip would probably have to intensify a bit in order for that to happpen. Ah, but for those of us who have had solid precip (again, in whatever the heck form it's been in) since 10 or 11, we've got a nice coating already. Understandably those that have stayed relatively "dry" would ...

Re: February Weather. Snow/Sleet/Ice/Winter Storm Warning

Just was emailing Ticka and thought of this...for those of you with icing (I guess most of us) go stand outside and listen to your trees. I'm surrounded by pine trees and they are really starting to creak. I've still got "something" falling from the sky but not sure how to categorize it. ...

Re: February Weather. Snow/Sleet/Ice/Winter Storm Warning

Not going to be easy in these cash-strapped times, but HGX needs a major push for forecast sounding equipment. They sure do. It is unbelievable to me that they don't do soundings here. EVERYTHING is beginning to glaze over in the Spring Branch area. Streets are even beginning to look glazed. Not li...

Steady light freezing drizzle/flurries here at the house. Not enough to take pics of yet though. 29f now so the temp is dropping.

Re: February Weather. Snow/Sleet/Ice/Winter Storm Warning

Currently 30.4 with VERY VERY light intermittent flurries here at the house. As I told Jeff in my text I was reluctant to report it, but I confirmed the moisture on my windshield. If nothing else the lower levels are definitely starting to moisten. I still expect the snow, but maybe not as much as w...

Re: February Weather. Arctic Blast/Snow/Then More Arctic Co

26.8f here and steadily dropping. I am glad it is still windy because if it wasn't we would have almost perfect radiational cooling and who knows how cold it would get? Mid to upper teens even in my location will not be a surprise to me. Still trying to contain my "excitement" re Thurs. an...

Re: February Weather. Severe Threat/Arctic Blast/Then Snow?

The temperature here in Bellville has gone up 3° in the past 45'??? We were at 30° and now we are at 33° Is that a glitch with the local met station? It will continue to vary as we continue to cool due to slight warming by the sun on and off(did that make sense?). I am seeing the same thing here at...

Re: February Weather. Severe Threat/Arctic Blast/Then Snow?

Now at 32f at the weatherbug nearest to me with my thermometer reading 34.9f. I pulled this off of a post on S2K. :o :o if it is correct!!(I think I am reading it correctly) It is the HPC's experimental snowfall and freezing rain forecast for up to 72 hours. You can click on amounts or timeframes o...

Re: February Weather. Severe Threat/Arctic Blast/Then Snow?

The winds has increased again rather dramatically in the past 15 minutes here, redneckweather. Getting gusts in the 30+ range again after an hour lull , if you can call it that. Mr T and I agree that there is another front to our north...a polar boundary that is currently moving through College Sta...

Re: January Weather Discussion: Light Freeze Fri/Sat Jan 21

Holy Moly the temperature is still dropping.....Wind is howling and I am on the third floor This front has definitely come in stronger than expected, or it looks that way to me. We are currently at 35.2f and continuing a steady drop. Even if the rate slows we should easily be in the upper 20's to 3...

Re: January Weather Discussion: Light Freeze Fri/Sat Jan 21

Goodness, virtually all the ensembles are chilly for the foreseeable future in our part of the world, lol... For once the local OCMs are getting it at least partially right too. Ch 13 said we will have below normal temps for at least the next week. I haven't seen KHOU or KPRC yet today. Steppin' do...
