Re: Cold weather on the way next week maybe wintry precip too!?

fwiw, the rest of the run shows continued cold and wet The 12z and 18z GFS ensemble mean did show another sustained pattern of below normal heights lasting from day 10 through 16, so I wouldn't expect another above average pattern to develop any time soon. It looks cold and dreary yet again (Decembe...

Re: Cold weather on the way next week maybe wintry precip too!?

Yep the GFS shows the freezing line a little north of the I-10 corridor for most of the event with light to moderate snow and freezing rain/sleet over areas north of I-10 for what its worth. Yeah. A very messy and complicated precip type forecast according to this run for SE TX. Luckily, we are tal...

Re: Cold weather on the way next week maybe wintry precip too!?

Very close call on the 0z GFS for the Houston area. Definitely a widespread area of wintry precip across a large portion of Texas next wednesday and thursday being shown... It may be pretty messy for some people across the state by the end of next week. We are still talking in the day 6 and 7 range,...

Re: Cold weather on the way next week maybe wintry precip too!?

Somebody across Texas next week will see some wintry fun, but it remains to be seen how far south this threat will exist. The 18z GFS is definitely back on the colder side of things... We'll just have to watch for trends, I suppose. Nothing else to say at this point. One thing is for sure, though. T...

Re: Welcome To The Weather Forum

Yes, please spread the word so we can build it back up. I know a lot of folks were M-A-D that this dissappeared in our re-launch of the web site in November. Patience pays off. Welcome, Gene It is very neat to see you here! I'm definitely looking foward to your input on this forum. We've needed som...

Here, also, is a write up about the arctic outbreak that occured during the first half of January 2010: http://www.srh.noaa.gov/data/warn_archive/HGX/PNS/0112_124508.txt For reference, here is what the four main climate sites in the HGX CWA have seen this winter so far in regards to temperature depa...

Re: Cold weather on the way next week maybe wintry precip too!?

Man, it is so good to see forecaster #31 at HGX back for the morning discussions. No offense to the other fine forecasters at HGX, but I think he/she writes the most thorough and detailed discussions out of all the forecasters at HGX. It is pretty boring when the forecaster on duty only types out a ...

Re: Cold weather on the way next week maybe wintry precip too!?

I noticed some rather gusty winds earlier outside (gusts approaching 40 mph at IAH) as this current batch of rain began to push away. The NWS has issued a special weather statement regarding this tight pressure gradient and quick burst of blustery winds across the area: 500 AM CST THU FEB 4 2010 ......

Working on that ;) Awesome, man! Thanks! :D I kind of wish there was a border around the post that you quote, as the writer's message blends in with the previous message. The only "real" problem I see with is when someone posts a large image, like the model maps, it cuts off half the imag...
