97L doesn’t look too bad tonight. It has nice cyclonic flow and symmetry. No “real” deep convection (although it of course has convection) just yet but I expect that to change very soon.

Recon won't be able to provide much additional info for a system that's embedded in a region with more surface obs than any other part of the entire Atlantic Basin. Obs confirm a weak surface low near 28.9N/86.2W. Winds around the low average around 15 kts, though there could be a few 20-25 kt wind...

Went to SW LA this weekend - they don't seem too worried about this system. They need the rain and a break from the heat wave too. So where-ever it goes if it develops into a recognizeable system is somewhere along the gulf coast. TD5 wasn't much and this is the ghost of TD5 so I'm not expecting an...
