Re: TD Igor Off African Coast

Tropical systems will make a liar out of ya everytime. I keep thinking of Ike. How many times did the HPC change it's track on that storm before it found it's way here. I think that's whats so facinating...they're so unpredictable.

Re: The Great 1900 Galveston Hurricane 110 Years Ago

When I see stories of the 1900 Hurricane, I always think of my Grandma, who was living in Velaso (now a part of Freeport) during the 1900 storm and the stories she'd tell us when we were small. She was very young but it left a lasting impact. She was quite a character.

Re: TS Hermine Gulf of Mexico

I was in Humble a couple of hours ago and it was coming down in buckets. It was kind of a typical squally rain. I assume that's what we'll see over the next few days. it was a pretty hard rain though. I didn't expect it to come in like that till tonight or tomorrow.

Re: wxdata Dan Meador 1951-2010

This totally breaks my heart. I have been a total weather bug for most of my 51 yrs and when I found this site several years ago, I was so thrilled to be able to discuss storms and things with people who loved weather as much as I did. But sometimes I would feel like I was in over my head as I had n...

Re: Update: 9/2 wxdata

Our thoughts and prayers are with you Dan. You are always one of the first opinions I would look for on this site and you never made a question seem trivial. Early on, you would stick up for me when I would wade into a conversation with people who were a little tougher than me and I apprectated that...

Re: Hurricane Earl Western Atlantic

Is it my own wishful thinking or just a wobble or do the last couple af frames look like Earl is moving a bit more to the north. For all my loved ones on the East Coast, I hope it not just a wobble.

Re: OT: wxdata

Dan, Since I first started to visit this site several years ago, you were always our "constant". When things would get crazy, you have always had a way of defusing issues, bringing levity to tense times and making even the smallest questions seem valid. I appreciate you more than you know....

Re: Invest 99L Bay Of Campeche

I wondered what the chances of it getting pulled up in the flow around the UUL that passed yesterday and ride up the shoot so to speak. Don't know that it would have much chance of intensification.

Re: July Weather Discussion

I was kind of afraid a tornado was gonna drop down on us. Still really bad out there, but it's dark now so it's hard to tell about the sky. No warning though. Kinda surprised.

Re: July Weather Discussion

I'm in Porter too. The sky is prime for hail and high wind. It looks almost tornadic. Folks, watch this as it moves in from the east. Montgomery County now. Harris county will need to watch the outflow boundary crossing those areas for home grown storm development. Exactly, I haven't seen wind like...
