Re: May 2024
Thanks for posting the Chronicle article about the May 1983 storm. I lived in Oak Forest at that time, and was awake during it. The lighting was as if there were thousands of light switches being repeatedly turned off and on in milliseconds, for what seemed an eternity. The tornado "roaring tra...

Getting absolutely hammered in Grimes County. Welcome sight, but there's going to be a lot of trees and limbs that were hanging on for dear life during the drought that will be strewn across county roads after this.

Re: September 2023
It may take a 1000 year flood to close the uncountable crevices in my pasture. Any measurable rain will disappear straight down, down, down...probably all the way to the aquifer.
But, it first has to rain. It's been a long, long time.

Re: July 2023
Slow watering around foundations of house and barn. The ground is dry again within 15 minutes of moving the hose. This is crazy stuff. Planted 20 pine trees in the spring. Keeping them alive is no small task. Irrigation system is next on the "to do" list, along with stockpiling well pump m...

Re: August 2023
Anything that brings a good, soaking rain. The pasture ground is cracking as bad as I've seen it in the 11 years we've been out here, and we've had good spring rains and caught a few of the last rounds. The air just seems to be sucking all the moisture out of everything. At least it's mid July and S...

Just checking to see how the site is doing on funds, and if contributions are needed. Hey everyone, my apologies for the tardiness in updating the SSL certificate. It should be updated now. I will try to make sure I reissue the certificate next year before it expires. As Grimes mentioned we never co...

Re: February 2023
Welp. Severe Season is probably next. It brings needed rain, but also hail and tornadic activity here in the NW counties where the cap is weaker. I've noticed in my time in Texas that severe weather in CLL area arrives earlier in (March) than decades ago with less action in April/May in the traditi...

Re: December 2022
We were in the NC mountains in late 1983 skiing. It was below 0°F for a couple of nights, but we escaped any pipes bursting in the rental. That didn't stop us from skiing, and the snow was less icy. They are more prepared to deal with cold weather. I have skiied in mountainous areas, in the Western...

I would love to see a video of that! Perfect song, too! Let's hope we all get some needed rain, just not an overdose. Be safe everyone. Re: February 2021
1989 was wicked. I remember driving to deer lease in Burnett and every little town we passed was 3 to 5 degrees colder. It was 6 degrees when we woke up. Highway 105...get over it. The name is what it is. If it's a boundary line, frontal passages can't read maps. Rain happens south of that line when...
