Re: March: Winter Weather Advisories/Warning Issued

Question....is the rain/moisture we're getting now helping to cool the warm layer in the upper atmosphere? Is the rain we're getting now helping any at all? Well the evaporation that is occurring in the area is an endothermic process meaning it is cooling the atmosphere. That is what we commonly as...

Re: February: Active Weather Week/Tracking 3 Winter Storms

The 12Z GFS has a trace of snow dipping south to about Waco on Sunday. Temps in the low 40s here Sunday, though. It's possible there could be some light snow in central to north Texas Sunday as the upper low goes by - assuming the 12Z GFS is correct (doubtful). We may be able to squeeze out a low i...

Re: February: Active Weather Week/Tracking 3 Winter Storms

Temps won't be cold enough. Nothing but a cold rain/drizzle. maybe a few ice pallets mixed in but nothing to rave about. No snow this winter.

Re: February: Active Weather Week/Tracking 3 Winter Storms

Low 30s won't give us snow. It'll give us a chance of sleet if upper air dynamics are right. If it ain't 32 degrees...I personally won't hold my breath. But it'll be really fun to see what develops.

Re: February: Active Weather Week/Tracking 3 Winter Storms

I prefer to think of myself as a realist. While I'd like to see snow as much as any of you (even though I hate cold), I don't let my desire to see snow affect my forecast. Current data do not indicate any snow for Houston later this week. The trend is toward cold rain, if anything. Thank you for ke...

Re: February: Active Weather Week/Tracking 3 Winter Storms

Euro says no winter storm for SE TX. GFS says cold rain. Bummer. The trend is warmer n a bit drier.

IF we do get anything it won't be anything serious.

Maybe next time

Re: February: Pattern Change & Stormy Weather Returns

It won't be cold. As of now it looks like anything that falls will be quite light.

Hopefully it's all rain though. I don't want the city to shut down cuz of a trace of some very light stuff. Workers have already missed two days without pay.

Re: February: Pattern Change & Stormy Weather Returns

0Z GFS is drier for next weekend. Instead of models trending towards wintry weather...they're trending away. GFS was the go to model with last week's system. The gfs is trending drier for this weekend unfortunately. I don't think Houston will get anything in the latter part of next week. But you nev...

Re: February: Pattern Change & Stormy Weather Returns

Sadly I think if we get anything it may be ice/sleet. 32 to 31 degrees doesn't seem to cut it for us when it comes to snow....we're always at the mercy of that warm nose :/ or dry air and the dynamics never come together perfectly. Unless we're below 30 in the 25-30 range I won't get my hopes up abo...

Hopefully the system next week is all snow...or all rain. Don't really want another ice event.

John, shouldn't you be trolling someone on Facebook instead of offering little in the way of value to our discussions here on the Weather Forum? You been extremely active in constantly pointing out why this event is a total bust. It's getting old and fast. Thank you for saying this! Last night I wa...

Re: January: Strong Arctic Front/Winter Storm Warning/Adviso

So the dry air is gonna shut out the precip for us and we should see sunshine this evening....hmmm. Well in my area the clouds don't look quite moist and we only got sleet pallets....I wanted some snow.
