Re: March 2024
I am happy to hear most of the feedback has been positive about the changes! Happy Easter to everyone, it looks to remain warm tomorrow before a cold front moves in early next week. Some severe weather for the Southern Plains but capping is expected to remain strong down here . Not too long until Hu...

Updates
Hey everyone, As you probably noticed the forum has received some pretty dramatic updates. The goal was to create a more professional and modern looking website while also upgrading a lot of the back-end software that was very outdated. The site is now fully up to date allowing for a more secure env...

Re: August 2022
Looks like the surge of tropical moisture from the south and a weak surface trough trying to develop along the coast will provide plenty of rain chances through the first half of the week. Some localized flooding concerns are possible too as rain rates look to be pretty heavy in some of the stronger...

Re: August 2022
The GFS remains steadfast on tropical formation across the Western Caribbean during the middle of next week but other global models are much less bullish on development. The key difference between the ECMWF and GFS is the mid-level vort gaining latitude and detaching from the rest of the energy push...

Re: August 2022
The ECMWF continues to push the system into Central America with no real latitude gained.

00Z GFS is about as bad as it can get but good news is it's 240 hours out.

Re: August 2022
ECMWF EPS were more favorable overnight of a system forming across the Gulf. The 06Z GEFS remains bullish on development too. Either way, we are 10+ days out from possible landfall and even the more aggressive GFS doesn't show any organization until the middle/late part of next week.

Re: August 2022
We need to keep an eye on the tropics for next week. I don't necessarily buy the fast development the GFS shows across the Eastern Caribbean, but both the EPS and GEFS indicate some sort of tropical wave could make it into the gulf by the middle/late part of next week. Nothing too concerning yet but...

Re: March 2022
The Luling storm is very impressive. Dynamics are not as strong that far south but there will be little cutoff of southerly flow which could maintain it for a little while.

Re: March 2022
the HRRR continues to show more stable air across Central Texas and the weakening of storms along 35. Something to keep an eye on for the next hour or two.

Re: March 2022
Translation for those of us who don't know how to read that? A lot of low and mid-level shear that is more often seen across the Central and Southern Plains. IF convection forms it could get dangerous quickly. Interesting to note though I was comparing the sounding to the HRRR and the HRRR indicate...

Re: March 2022
Radar starting to light up just west of B/CS That stuff is still junk precip from onshore flow and not so much surface based. If anything it could help to stabilize the area a little (something to continue to monitor). The surface trough/cold front is still west of 35. That is where we will need to...
