Re: December-Mid Week Canadian Front/Possible Christmas Stor
Front just passed here south of Alvin. Very loud as it roared through. Highest gust 33 mph. Lights flickered a few times, also woke me from deep sleep (my room faces north). The wind moved my son's wagon from the back porch to halfway to the front fence (cleared a good half acre of real estate)! Bac...

Been watching radar for past few hours with hubby, we see movement to the wsw, with a jog to the south in the last few framesticka1 wrote:hearing the wsw motion has been maintained for close to an hour now and no signs to north or stopping - is that what ya'll are seeing too?

Re: Hurricane Isaac: TS Watch Extended To E Of High Island
I can't recall if SE TX has ever had a "coastal hugger" move into our area from the east/north east. I've seen thus before with storms moving up the coast from the sw, but never recall having a storm creep in from this direction (if on fact that's what Isaac decides to do) Thoughts anyone?

Re: Hurricane Isaac: TS Watch Extended To E Of High Island
For those interested, Doc is about to offer some analysis. Doc just offered his opinion and said it wasn't moving NNW....he thinks it will hug the coast. Guys and gals - last night Doc told us not to write this one off - I think this man knows what he is talking about - his years of wisdom and expe...

Can anyone tell me what they expect the storm surge to be in Biloxi? I have family there and for some reason or another, didn't get out in time.

Re: Tropical Storm Isaac: TS Watch Extended To E Of High Isl
:?: Question: I know everyone keeps saying model watching at this point is pointless, but if this storm is still over water (at the moment) and these models (the most credible ones) are showing a westward trend.... then would'nt they STILL have some sort of influence to the NHC and the track? ....T...

Re: Tropical Storm Isaac: Passing South Of Key West
Question for Jeff: Do you think that *if* we have a scenario where this thing actually heads towards the TX coast we will still be looking at a Wed/Thu landfall or sometime later? Or is it still too early to tell? Not sure what to make of it, but wunderground has an 80% chance of thunderstorms on T...

Re: Tropical Storm Isaac: Near N Coast Of Eastern Cuba
6z GFS is generally an extension of the 0z. Moves Isaac right at the Mississippi mouth and then smacks up against the ridge and starts moving almost due W across the coast before finally moving WNW/NW near the border. Still close to a hurricane and impacts would be felt by our Beaumont/Pt Arthur ar...

Re: Tropical Storm Isaac: In The Eastern Caribbean Sea
I heard one of the local mets the other day say that If Issac continues to stay weak and unorganized, it will continue a more westerly track, into the GOM. I assume tomorrow and Saturday will be the telling days to see if he does take the NW turn, is that correct? The trend seems to be westward-ho ...

Shocked to see NHC barely nudged the track after the significant model shifts today and the shocking euro run...I think they are holding back for now for a few more runs of the euro. I have a feeling between now and tomorrow, there will be quite a hop west in the track... We shall see. Same here dj...

Re: Invest 95L: Western Gulf
It is confusing. Last week there was a lot of talk of a low forming along the trough or front and then drifting northward to the Texas coast. Then last night Wxman57 posted the smackdown and said if anything formed it would go E or NE or here. It's always good to look at the 500mb charts to get and...

And remember ( to quote Srain and Katdaddy...love ya bro!!), Alicia started off as an item off a front in 1983.... The origins of Hurricane Alicia were from a cold front that extended from New England through the central Gulf of Mexico. On August 14, mesoscale low-pressure area developed off the Al...
