0z HRRR has a bullseye of 10+ inches in Harris county fwiw. I'm not concerned about it yet but I'll be watching to see if future runs continue to show it.

Re: May 2024
It’s, in large part, the latitude of the Houston metro area. While only a few degrees difference, the lower latitude often precludes some low pressure systems from the Midwest from reaching as far south as especially the coastal areas. There is a marked difference in relative humidity % between Hou...

Re: May 2024
Thanks for all of the great information. I never actually looked into it. I just assumed that the Beaumont area and the Houston area received about the same amounts, sometimes one more than the other. That is true also, sometimes Houston sees a big flood and nothing happens in the Golden Triangle an...

Re: May 2024
It does rain here a lot, but I thought the Houston area got just as much, or at least similar. Houston gets a lot of rain but Beaumont gets more.Though both the Houston metro area and the golden triangle are some of the wettest areas of the country overall. As most parts of the country get less than...

Re: May 2024
It's feast or famine. 3.83 inches from the latest MCV this morning. That is 10.24 inches of rain for the week! Welcome to Texas! We'll continue to see a ramping up of extremes in Texas over the coming years. Longer periods of drought in the summer and more flooding rains. Stratton - you must be thi...

Re: May 2024
The Next MCS may be tomorrow morning. And some models are already sniffing out another potent disturbance moving in on Sunday. So for those who haven't seen much rain yet there is still opportunities for more rain coming up.This is the way Spring is suppose to be in Texas.Below is what I posted last W...

Re: May 2024
Yep models always struggle here when you're dealing with numerous disturbances moving in along the subtropical jet into the state.Kudos to the EURO for showing heavy rainfall amounts over SE Texas several days ago. While the GFS was much drier here.

Re: May 2024
Don its not that I dont like rain, I just would prefer to have it all spread out and not all at once, any how a dry period looks to be taking shaping after friday, good! Doesn't seem like that to me. Literately every time it rains you complain about it.Even though we've had more than enough sunshin...

Re: April 2024
Didnt even get a drop of rain from those storms, pathetic, that’s why i go with the saying “ if it looks too be good to be true, it usually is” It went as expected, the rain was supposed to be along and east of I-45 with the MCS last night and that's exactly what happened. The western half of Harris...

Re: April 2024
This current storm complex is very reminiscent of the May 2015 Memorial Day Flooding event with this one shifted to the north & east with less areal coverage and a shorter duration as compared to the 2015 event. https://www.weather.gov/media/ewx/wxevents/ewx-20150524.pdf https://blog.hmns.org/2...

Re: April 2024
Enhanced risk for tonight. (What I posted earlier) Are y'all looking at mesoscale models?🤷♂️ The storms to the Northeast are the same storms that will congeal into a MCS and move southeast with the front late tonight/overnight.This MCS looks to effect areas along and east of I-45 all the way to the...
