Re: November 2020

Not anymore, the latest models have shifted more to the south with the area of greatest convergence. Wouldn't be surprised if the WPC moved the higher QPF amounts further south over the coming days. .LONG TERM [Thanksgiving Day trough Tuesday]... The long-term forecast for SE Texas continues to be ch...

Re: November 2020

Its looking more likely that the area is going to receive some much needed rainfall this weekend. There may even be some minor flooding issues.

Re: October 2020: Tracking Hurricane Delta

Delta seems to be one of those rare storms where the western side may have more moisture than the eastern half of the Hurricane. You can even see that on infrared right now, where the western side has more robust convection. Probably due to the placement of the trough to the west of Delta, with high...

Re: October 2020: Tracking Hurricane Delta

Yea i don't see this coming anymore west than the Sabine,Jefferson county at the extreme.I do expect impacts though to be a little more locally than they were with Laura. There could be some decent rain bands and possibly tropical storm wind gust as far west as the I-45 corridor.Wouldn't surprise me ...

Re: October 2020

NWS now has tropical storm conditions in the forecast for metro Houston.Because Delta is expected to grow in size and have a pretty large windfield. A landfall from the Sabine and points west could produce close to hurricane force wind gust as far west as the I-45 corridor.

Re: October 2020

Im also a little concerned if Delta takes a more westward track about rainfall enhancement along the western side of the storm. Due to the trough over Texas meeting up with Deltas moisture as some of the models are showing. Storms that take the trajectory that the models show Delta taking with a tro...

Re: October 2020

One thing that I have noticed is that the models show a pretty large hurricane in the gulf.Which is different from Laura which was more average size. Delta could have a much larger windfield and core than Laura. Notice how the CMC shows a landfall in the same area that Laura hit unfortunately, but th...

Re: October 2020

12z EURO is a little too close for comfort.I'm not too concerned about Delta yet though.

Re: October 2020

Can't believe I'm saying this (though it is 2020) but the lower Texas coast may need to keep an eye out for 91l. GFS for a couple of runs brings a major hurricane just s of the border near Matamoros. It remains in the very long range but it has some support from the Euro which has a system in the s...

Re: September 2020:

On another note the ICON and CMC have not gotten enough credit this season. They showed Beta forming in the southern Gulf and heading north to the middle to upper Texas coast before even Sally developed. Both of those models have done a good job this year when it comes to genesis. FYI Beta is the fi...
