Re: April 2025

What a night, the supercell that just moved over the city was one of the strongest I've experienced. Warning on top of warnings. With high water rescues ongoing now. And we have multiple rounds of heavy rain to go through the night.

Re: April 2025

Expecting supercells here today this evening…

A very active season so far, and we haven’t even seen a real severe weather outbreak yet. The setup the models show around the beginning of May looks interesting. Could be the first big outbreak of the season for the southern plains.

Re: April 2025

We’ve been getting MCS’s every night this week. As storms develop along the dryline in the panhandle and congeal into a MCS overnight. Picked up over 3 inches so far over the last week with over 6 inches in total for April so far. With more rounds of widespread storms in the forecast thru the weeken...

Re: Severe Weather 2025

I haven’t heard anything about El Niño so that’s news to me. El Niños have been very boring lately so I’m not sure that’s good news. La Nina has ended per NOAA: https://www.climate.gov/news-features/blogs/enso/april-2025-enso-update-la-nina-has-ended Reed Timmer's been talking about it. He has been...

Re: Severe Weather 2025

Yep, they got pounded in Clay County with over 9 inches of rain. I received 1.5 inches here. And the NWS is forecasting 3-4 inches of additional QPF this week. We have already received around 5 inches of rain so far this month. 😊And with El Nino trying to "peak it's head" if the rains con...

Re: April 2025

The WPC has issued a Moderate Risk for flooding here tomorrow and the HRRR shows almost 5 inches this weekend… My time being up here I have noticed there is such a big difference in rainfall amounts between here and the Panhandle. It seems to be much harder for the Panhandle and West Texas to get he...

Re: April 2025

Yikes, if the pattern the models are showing starting around the 20th and beyond into May verifies.Climatology speaking such a setup would be capable of producing multiple severe weather outbreaks up here. A similar pattern happened last Spring, and it ended up producing a couple of tornado outbreak...

Re: April 2025

I'm very happy with the rainfall we received this week. It was needed, and the more rain we can get now the better the Summer should be.

Re: April 2025

Had a big hailstorm here last night. And have a 80% chance of rain/snow in the forecast tonight. The weather is very dynamic here to say the least. That’s awesome, sir! But the summers there will probably suck lol Yep the one thing that sucks here is that you pretty much are guaranteed to be in a d...

Re: April 2025

We have a lot of rain on the way up here over the next few days. I’ve picked up almost 1 inch already from the first round of storms. There’s also some model support for a period of snow this weekend. Though I would like to see more data before buying into the snow yet. If you get snow, we need pic...

That whole area is definitely a magnet to severe storms.
Yep the Ohio River and Mississippi River valley’s are notorious for getting tornado outbreaks and flooding.
