Re: Hurricane Isaac: TS Watch Extended To E Of High Island

Watching the WV loop of the Southern half of the US...you can clearly see a wedge of dry air working in from the North and East, covering the East half of TX and Western LA. This is pretty much shuting the door to anymore westward movement. Would have been nice to get some rain, but here in Central ...

Re: Tropical Storm Isaac: Moving Over The Eastern Gulf Of Me

So far I can't find any obs to indicate it's decoupling. If this next pass shows a rise in pressure then there might be some issues. Recon has been showing a steady pressure right now. Well that was the idea about seeing what the next fix showed. ;) Only have had the one fix since this latest movem...

What would the "ballpark" wind speed be for a 978mb storm?

Re: Tropical Storm Isaac: Moving Over The Eastern Gulf Of Me

Check this link out: http://www.weatherbellmodels.com/weather/ecmwf/ecmwf_tropical.php When you compare it to the 12z run it's literally a full reversal from E to W. I was ready to call it...The NHC...hell, everybody, was leaning heavy on the ECMWF big time. And now in the 11th hour, it flips west....

Re: Tropical Storm Isaac: Moving Over The Eastern Gulf Of Me

Convection appears to really be starting to fire around the center... Yeah...but the whole N to NE quad. of the storm is nothing but dry air. Looks like someone cut it in half from East to West. 979mb is solid Cat 1 maybe Cat 2 pressure. If it can shake the dry air and the Easterly shear...still a ...

Minimum Sea Level Pressure: 983mb (29.03 inHg) - Extrapolated

Not getting any stronger...NW eyewall is open, and it still looks to be pulling in dry air from the NE.
