Re: September 2020: Tracking TS Beta

So everybody seems kind of ‘blah’ abut this setup. If you told me a month ago that there would be a dying tropical system 70 miles from Houston with us in the right top quadrant and it was forecast to hang around for 2-3 more days, I’d have looked into a pontoon boat. I’m actually quite nervous abo...

Re: September 2020: Tracking TS Beta

Recon obs right along the coast from near Quintana Beach to near Matagorda Bay were about 35-40 kts. Doubtful they are sustained but I'm sure a few isolated areas are seeing gusts at or over ts strength.

Re: September 2020: Tracking TS Beta

First recon fix is generally just offshore of Matagorda Bay. Obs to the e support 40 kts but that's being generous.

Second fix in a few.

Re: September 2020: Tracking TS Beta

Beta is still creeping and almost onshore. Try not to use radar and use visible. Could be another pulse about to go off just to the ne of the center, right over Sargent. The windmap is another good marker. Beta is still offshore. I have it about 15 mi ese of Port O'connor drifting towards Matagorda...

However, it also shows Beta moving SW towards Corpus.. Not sure how much to believe that?
When steering currents collapse as forecasted there can be temporary and erratic motion. So it's plausible....

As of now I think it barely crawling and may not make much further inland than Matagorda Bay.

Re: September 2020: Tracking TS Beta

Movement still looks like a slow drift towards Aransas/Matagorda Bay. Hard to tell, especially without recon. Last mission had com issues. Should be another mission this afternoon.

Re: September 2020: Tracking TS Beta

Almost all models are coming into agreement with the GFS and a stall just inland or drifting back offshore before slowly lifting out either Wednesday or Thursday. Drifting back out, will that be a game changer or not do much if anything? Too many variables with such a complicated setup.... It could...
