Re: February Weather. Arctic Blast/Snow/Ice/Winter Storm Wa
Wow! I have been gone all day and just got caught up with all the chatter. I have to say that the NWS is not agreeing with much that is being said in here. As a matter of fact, they have changed their mind three times since the storm watch was issued. First it was 1 to 3 inches of snow. Then they r...

Look at the cloud formation coming off the Pacific onto the Baja Peninsula. You can already see some moisture forming.

Re: February Weather. Arctic Blast/Snow/Ice/Winter Storm Wa
lol, txagwxman is just stirring the pot. Cold air is firmly entrenched which is not our normal issue regarding any wintry weather chance that always seem to be borderline. Wet bulbing will likely overcome any very thin warm layer aloft with no problem, IMO. Are you sure about that? I could see 3-5 ...

Txagwxman: ( pro met on Storm2K) Could Houston get missed? The snow that is...I hate this pesky 850 mb warm layer... Hmmm. I wonder what he is seeing....hummmm He's seeing what I saw too... maybe a full fledged ice storm in Houston with Snow at the tail end. It's a possibility for the majority of H...

Re: February Weather. Arctic Blast/Snow/Ice/Winter Storm Wa
had planned on going over to parent's house so I wouldn't be caught upstairs; but just realized to get to work Friday morning I would have to cross an overpass. So, should I go over anyway or stay home? It'd be nice to experience this event with mom and dad - to prove mom wrong. LOL Friday Morning ...

Correct me if I'm wrong Pro Mets....
But based on all of the models and the latest 18z NAM, we are looking likely for a 1-3 inch event in Greater Houston with isolated totals higher than 3 inches?
My house looks to be in the warpath, and I'm hoping for some banding in the Cypress/Spring area.

Re: February Weather. Arctic Blast/Snow/Then More Arctic Co
Based off the NAM and GFS and what other forecasters are saying, and with the low taking a little northerly track, I'm going to guess that the heaviest snow for the Houston Metro Area will be from Cypress to Tomball to Conroe and points northward to Hempstead and Huntsville. I don't mean to sound b...

2.5 qpf would make me go six to midnight!!!
I went to grad school at Ohio State and saw some doozies when it came to Winter Storms, so I'm accustomed, but I just get really excited when I see snow in the Houston area. It's just a rare event.

Re: February Weather. Severe Threat/Arctic Blast/Then Snow?
Freeze preparations complete. I’m worried that my Pygmy Date Palm will not handle another very hard freeze even close to last January. It has finally started to recover from that event. And of course, right on cue, I have new blooms on 2 water lilies in a 2000 gallon fish pond that cannot be covere...
