Re: February 5-28, 2011 Discussion: Another Artic Blast ?

My forecast: Wednesday Night: Rain or freezing drizzle likely. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 31. North wind between 5 and 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. I'd much rather see SNOW in the forecast than freezing drizzle. Frizzle just causes problems. After a hig...

Re: February Weather. Snow/Sleet/Ice/Winter Storm Warning

groves, tx city officials sent a phone recording out a few minutes ago saying for everyone in the city to stay off the roads cause there is a possibility of 1/4 inch of ice tonight...could that really be possible for this area? Yes. There's already ice in the area. There have been several major acc...

Re: February Weather. Arctic Blast/Snow/Then More Arctic Co

My friend at HGX texted me the following: "I will issue a Winter Storm Watch for the entire CWA this afternoon if and only if the surrounding offices pull the trigger with me." NWS LCH is being very conservative, IMO, so good luck with that. They have been much too warm so far as well. La...

its looking like the chances of SE Houston's chances of accumulation are going down to me is this true What makes you think it's going down? Just because they said the northern area's will get more snow doesn't mean that you won't get a lot. Everything is relative. i was looking at the nws website ...

It's already 29° here (just west of Beaumont, along Hwy. 105), 30° at KFDM and it's even 33° down at the airport (BPT). I noticed it was 31° here earlier, shortly after 4pm. We're going to be below freezing for a long time! If you want to see some area temps, click on this link, then below the map, ...

Re: February Weather. First week Interest?

From now on, whatever we think the % chances are of something happening, cut it in half; THAT is pretty much a universal rule to follow in the winter I think. While Dallas may still see something here, it isn't anything special to get 25 or 26 and in the 30s during the day. We had that 2 weeks ago....

I'm glad the board is coming alive. There hasn't been nearly enough activity with the potential of the system. I think the 00z Euro woke some people up.... Re: January Weather Discussion: Progressive Pattern Then Co

If we step back and take a look at some of the signals that we're seeing, then it seems likely that there will be some type of significant event at the beginning of February. When I say that the pattern evolving appears similar to 1993, I don't mean that I expect another massive Gulf and east coast...

Re: February Weather.

The January, 1997 ice storm was worse just a little to your east. We had an inch of ice in Beaumont, no power for many days, and it was a miserable, horrible experience. I don't remember how many days we didn't get above freezing, but I didn't have a fireplace at the time and we just bundled up and ...

Re: January Weather Discussion. Severe Threat/Cold Blast Com

That's what the gfs does. Just like last year over 240.
