It's not just the CMC, both the ICON and EURO don't show anything focused on Texas (as of now). Not even the ensembles of the GFS show much (as of now).Stratton20 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 21, 2023 11:37 am user:null i dont buy the CMC, that front is plowing straight into texas, its coming

Re: October 2023
So far, as of last night, only the GFS buys the more focused plunge into TX — other models (even the CMC) propogated further east, with weaker incursion into TX.
Let's see what afternoon models hold.

Re: October 2023
The models still think -PDO is likely for winter ... except that it's taken a hard weakening trend lately.

Re: October 2023
It's too bad SETX can't benefit from an El Niño-driven SJT during the summer, when we could really use it! You can thank the Mexican Desert for that At least here in SETX, all the discussion regarding summer rainfall was strictly "sea-breeze storms + any tropical waves". I've never known ...

Re: September 2023
I'm actually pleasantly surprised to see the amount of coverage that has been happening today, considering that the front earlier this week supposedly "pushed all the moisture offshore". Good storms in the Sugar Land area.

Re: September 2023
According to Storm2k, the -PDO is still quite strong. They think that is the reason why this relatively dry pattern is continuing despite the El Nino.

Re: September 2023
You have GOT to be kidding me! The fortunate thing is that the League City region cashed in BIG TIME with the previous stormy event during the Sept 10-16th week: the HGX station (NWSO located in Dickinson) has almost 5 inches total for the month, which is more than many places here so far this month.

Re: September 2023
According to Space City Weather, places north of I-10 better score big this morning. Because everything shifts southwards to the central metro coastward starting tomorrow.
Wildcard: if the front is more diffuse or slower progressing, that that would give more leeway for the entire area.

Re: September 2023
Look at the radar now: storms forming no problem like in Liberty/Chambers counties (as usual) ... but also good development to the west in Wharton/Fort Bend (the cloud cover for the Ft. Bend cells is streaming over my home atm, though). Yet, central Houston is always in the blank. Same sea-breeze, s...

Re: September 2023
Had two nice waves of rain today, though the second wave through the area was relatively lighter/stratisform compared to yesterday's event. While the rains were welcome, I'm definitely still looking for an area wide flood either later this month or October, because that is the only way to completely...

Re: September 2023
Geez the Cypress area gets skipped over again. I could have sworn that I saw storms in that area during the Labor Day week event, as well as during Sept 8/9. Hopefully they at least got something out of those days, because people from that area are really riled up on Space City Weather's comments s...

Re: September 2023
Looks like the SE Houston area was a big winner once again today: huge totals in La Porte, League City, Pearland, Friendswood, etc areas over the past few days. Decent showings around the Fort Bend/Sugar Land areas. Had the center of action today been a little further north, Hobby (which has done we...

Re: September 2023
Meanwhile, Space City Weather actually INCREASED their rainfall predictions in the period from today thru Saturday (based on NOAA). The NWS discussion from this morning states that good development should kick in south of I-10 later in this late afternoon-evening period (3-9PM) with the convergence ...

Re: September 2023
Well gang, I got .21” in my bucket but I think the trees/wind blocked it because it was .31” down the street (he’s like 6 houses away). So grateful for something and perhaps the beginning of a new trend, finally. I get a day off for a change. :D If Jason's curse has been broken, that bodes well for...
