Re: September 2022
Just got back from Austin. The trees in Bastrop are in much better shape than around here. I noticed lots of dead trees along the Grand Parkway. What trees in particular? Because the species/subspecies composition in wilderness, landscaping, etc is quite different in Bastrop versus farther east, wh...

Re: September 2022
The Google weather results (weather.com) for Houston is showing solid days of rain all of a sudden — starting from Friday and continuing into next week.

Re: September 2022
user:null i dont care about the rain as ive gotten plenty of it, i just want those colder temps, im over these 90 degree temps lol Fair enough. I think I've seen Larry Cosgrove mention earlier that he believes that the recent oddities with the weather patterns (i.e. weak Atlantic season, etc) argue...

That would only lead to even less chances of heavy, soaking rainfall.Stratton20 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 07, 2022 4:37 pm Last day of “widespread “ rain chances before ridging dominates our weather again, next 10-12 days look dry, can we just skip to winter please?

Re: September 2022
Looks like August and September are doing a good job so far of saving this summer from a total F score in my book.

Re: August 2022
I just wish everywhere would get a solid heavy soaker with inches of rainfall under this coming late-summer wet spell.
I'm beyond tired when all the other promising moisture shifts earlier this summer kept getting reduced to scattered pieces of cr...

Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Houston/Galveston TX 251 PM CDT Tue Aug 23 2022 [snip] The forecast update was not posted at the time that I made my initial comment. But, yes, as you can see, that's exactly the type of writeup that I consider worthy and respectable for me — I did ...

Re: August 2022
Honestly, from ABC13 to Space City Weather, all these forecasters just suck. All you see is lipservice and flimsy ad hoc justifications, there's no real substance at all. NWS discussion tends to be the most informative. But even there, some of the same faults can occur, as seen in @Cromagnum's above...

Re: August 2022
The storm track may shift northeastward up the Texas coast just like previous occurrences. That would put more areas in play.
But even if it's going to South Texas, then we'd still be on the "dirty side".
So not seeing the issue?

Re: August 2022
Maybe, just maybe — the typical northeast shift can kick in, and bring rain to more areas (i.e. other than just along/south of I-10).

Why is everything here so dead? The literal sea-breeze sweeping through, even colliding with outflows ... and nothing (i.e. at time of posting).

Re: August 2022
Right over the red and orange here in Ft. Bend around Richmond-Fulshear. Huge, huge downpour, the most in ages. No gauge, so can't tell how much I recieved. Unfortunately, I'm still let down with the performance of this line, as there are still "donut holes" according to Cromagnum and Jaso...

Re: August 2022
I’m loving the look of the radar!! Looks like some cell mergers are going to congeal into quite a line of storms for Austin, Wharton, Fort Bend, and possibly Colorado counties. Exactly! For once this summer, we actually have a clean, solid swath of storms covering the entire area — not just Beaumon...

Re: August 2022
Good downpour today in Ft. Bend. No gauge, so don't know how much rain fell. But more and more rain is really greening things up — a more verdant look with luxuriant green grass, foliage amongst a deep blue skie ... rather than the hazy "Rio Grande brushland" look with fazed out skies and ...

Re: August 2022
These forcasters are all over the place, though. NWS discussion implies the inverted trough already moved in west, hence their references to high rain chances west of I-45/inland areas that missed out yesterday. But look at the radar, and still loads of coverage in the Golden Triangle, Lake Charles ...
