Re: February 5-28, 2011 Discussion: Another Artic Blast ?

Yes, unfortunately I saw that same meteogram you posted. I dread the thought. Austin's brittle power grid always collapses in ice storms. Cold, no power, and no ability to watch the Horns beat up on OU on their own court Wednesday night is not how I want to spend my Wednesday. We had our "wint...

Re: February Weather. Snow/Sleet/Ice/Winter Storm Warning

Did I read that map right... virtually all San Antonio freeways are closed down? Looks like SA AND Austin I wouldn't be shocked to see Houston go that same route. It's been an absolute nightmare this morning! I just saw some schmuck try and leave my apartment complex. He basically tried to turn aro...

Re: February Weather. Snow/Sleet/Ice/Winter Storm Warning

The precip would probably have to intensify a bit in order for that to happpen. Ah, but for those of us who have had solid precip (again, in whatever the heck form it's been in) since 10 or 11, we've got a nice coating already. Understandably those that have stayed relatively "dry" would ...

Re: February Weather. Snow/Sleet/Ice/Winter Storm Warning

Hang in there snow fans in Houston. The "squall line" (for a lack of better wording) sitting over Austin is dumping plenty of snow on us. Should be about an inch or 1.5" before it heads toward you. It's coming your way next!

Re: February Weather. Snow/Sleet/Ice/Winter Storm Warning

The only thing happening here in Central TX is freezing drizzle. This is going to be a real mess tonight. The roads are icing over fast because we've been below freezing since Tuesday morning.

Re: February Weather. Snow/Sleet/Ice/Winter Storm Warning

Multiple reports now of sleet/snow grains in NW Austin, Leander, and Georgetown. Oh. I see you didn't jump... You wouldn't let me ... thankfully! Still nothing at my house in southwest Travis County but it should only be a matter of minutes the way the radar is lighting up. It's lighting ...

Re: February Weather. Snow/Sleet/Ice/Winter Storm Warning

Looks like NW of Austin is starting to light up with some good snow showers... that stuff isn't moving our way but hopefully it does bode well for the energy potential of this system! Yep I have friends in north Austin reporting snow falling. This is good news for everyone from central to SE TX hop...

Re: February Weather. Snow/Sleet/Ice/Winter Storm Warning

The latest ob at Burnet (a small hill country town) is "Unknown Precip." Normally that would signify Sleet, but seeing as it's way too cold for sleet, it certainly is some light snow. What is popping up on radar now is not virga. Watch to the west. This stuff is coming your way in Houston ...
