Re: January: Strong Arctic Front/Winter Storm Warning/Adviso
Looks like the end of the precip is between here and San Antonio. Will that be it or will there be more building in? I don't see much going on here in Katy right now but we have had sleet this morning and ice pellets.

Re: January: Strong Arctic Front/Winter Storm Warning/Adviso
John, shouldn't you be trolling someone on Facebook instead of offering little in the way of value to our discussions here on the Weather Forum? You been extremely active in constantly pointing out why this event is a total bust. It's getting old and fast. Thank you for saying this! Last night I wa...

Re: July: Week of 18th - A Few Isolated Storms Early in Wee
So there are 2 force fields. On at HWY 105 and one in the Pearland to League City area. My son was born in June of 2008. I think he's seen it rain heavily about 5 times since then. (one time happened to be Hurricane Ike, which he doesn't really remember). Sheesh. It really does seem like Ike was th...

Re: July: Week of 18th - Rain Moving Into Houston!!
When I looked at the radar online this morning, there was red and yellow everywhere! Surely that would make it to Katy this time. But no, once again, the rain Nazi says, "No rain for you!". Anyone else want to kick the rain Nazi in the seat of the pants?

Re: July: Sea Breeze Showers Popping Over Houston!
I officially hate summer. I am sorry Wxman57, but I am worn out from these temperatures. Goodness gracious. I can take 1-3 degrees above normal for maybe 10-15 days during the summer, but every day 5-7 degrees above normal. Sheesh. Count me in on that! I was born and raised here, and I have lived h...

It just rained really hard here in Katy for about 5 minutes. Is that all the clouds from today can squeeze out?

Re: February 5th-28th - Big Warm-up for S. Plains Feb 12-20
After we get a few strong arctic cold fronts that deliver several days and nights worth of freezing or subfreezing weather we get a warm up which, needles to say, can easily perplex plants into thinking that the season of Spring has arrived only to have yet another good round or two of more freezin...

Re: February 5-11-11 Arctic Blast/Ice/Hard Freeze Warning
Sun is peaking in NW Houston as dry air filters in. Really bad news for us as temps will really drop tonight. http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/goes/east/sc/flash-vis.html I'm not so sure we will clear tonight. Sure seems to be a lot of cloudiness moving in from Mexico. Is that all high clouds or are we seei...

Re: February 5-11-11 Arctic Blast/Ice/Hard Freeze Warning
It's 24 degrees right now in Katy. Did anyone realize it was going to be this cold this fast with this weather system? I don't remember dropping immediately into the 20's last week and I wonder how cold it will be tonight if it is 24 here and the sun is out!!

Re: February 5-11-11 Arctic Blast/Ice/Hard Freeze Warning
The entire area between Fry, Clay, Franz, and the Grand Parkway has been without power for about 2 hours. All the traffic lights at those intersections are out and traffic is really building. My Katy ISD school ended the day without power, wonder if we will have school tomorrow. Is it from a rollin...

Re: February 6-28, 2011 Discussion: Another Artic Blast ?
Only 5 days lead time for this event!!! Channel 11 has this in their forecast and channel 2 not so much. Channel 11 has the degreed mets. I suspect even without a BS degree, however, Frank can read the local AFD and look at models, after ballpark twenty years doing this, and, especially if the Euro...

Re: February 6-28, 2011 Discussion: Another Artic Blast ?
Katy ISD has already said there is a makeup day that will ruin the four day weekend we orignally had on the Katy schedule. Is there anything good about this because I can't think of anything. GRRRR Same here in our district. Thankfully, we didn't put kids in buses on icy roads this morning. That co...

Re: February 6-28, 2011 Discussion: Another Artic Blast ?
[quote="helloitsb"] for some reason I can't get excited... Me neither. I hate disappointment. Now I had to have a day off from school, which is pointless with ice and no snow. Katy ISD has already said there is a makeup day that will ruin the four day weekend we orignally had on the ...

Re: February 6-28, 2011 Discussion: Another Artic Blast ?
Well, since David Paul mentioned sleet on his forecast today, does it look like we could get some snow from this next Arctic air this time? If anyone says snow for next week, I'm not believing it. Although, out of all the weather folks on tv in Houston, he is the one I am most likely to belie...
